And it wasn't the Beatles
this footage is from 1964 the same year the Beatles invaded the U.S.
It was these guys!
I lived through those years but never heard of the The Barbarians or the TAMI Show.
Also believe David Bowie had long hair even before the
Barbarians but I didn't know about his long hair until
recently.
The TAMI show was concert film released in 1964.
I don't recall it opening near where I lived at the time.
probably deemed to radical for the times. it was also an integrated audience so I suspect it did not appear at many theaters in the south either.
I was living in Wisconsin at the time and I don't recall it
being show in our area.
This was later in 64 than the Beatles arrival in Feb. and appearance on the Ed Sullivan show shortly after. The Beatles had developed the long(er) hair as well as matching suits look in Britain in early '63 when they had already acquired a bit of fame in Britain and continental Europe. I spent part ofr the Summer in '63 in London and my Cousin there was a huge Beatle fan. have to admit I heard the Beatles before their apperance on In Feb. 64, But really gave no thought to growing my hair longer until then. The hair cut I had at the time (I was all of 12 y.o.) led itself to a quick 'Beatles" look in a very short time, though.
That was just the greatest photo of days long gone. Reminds me so much of myself at age 12 with my own dog. Just a little "impression" of how it "may" have looked in color.
Justin~
I love it. It's a keeper. so I'm gonna keep it... thanks.
Oh thank you and glad you liked it. A photo such as this is quite difficult to do something with, that is, the original I had to work with was a bit too undefined..........hence my term "impression." A very good B+W Portrait can many times come out so well that it actually looks as if it was indeed taken in color.
With all good wishes-
Justin~
