I ran across this old clip from 1960s and was wondering if some of the older guys on this site are familiar with this group?
I am just curious if this whole thing was a joke and poking fun at the younger bands of the era or this was actually a real band.
The Hi-Five ('60s garage band) on ''I've Got a Secret'' Part 1
My understanding is they are a real group that had minor success
emphasis on the word minor. They never really hit it big.
Remember music is a very competitive field. For every band that made it big there were thousands that never really caught on. For every band that made it big there were thousands that bombed
big time.
I bet this is what killed their careers, especially after it was probably seen on television by millions of teenagers.
I wonder how much they were each paid to do that
My gut tells me that being on What's My Line probably didn't help
since a show like that probably skewed to an older demographic.
The teenagers probably weren't watching, for a show like What's My Liine i'd guess that the median age was considerably higher than
teenage.
air date was March 7, 1966
now, I can't imagine teenagers at that time approving of the makeovers. in fact it might have killed their careers overnight!
did anything like that ever happen to any other bands on national tv at that time that you know of?
