Hey guys, just a quick vacation/hair update pic as I returned to San Francisco on what was a much sunnier day than yesterday.Got to the middle of the bridge and felt it needed help from falling so I lent a hand or two:) LOL.Proves longhair does give super human strength:)Cheers
Nice pic Mark!! Very cool you're able to come out west. I love San Fran. not sure I have held up the bridge though :) Have a great trip!!
Glad you enjoyed the pic of me being silly on the bridge but I'm sure not being the first one though.lol.Probably gave the other tourists the same idea of lifting the bridge.Yes, I do love visiting the west for sure:)Cheers

Well, I don't know if we gave other tourists the idea of holding up the bridge, but after Mark took literally the sign requiring that pedestrians keep to the right, we saw other tourists doing it!
Bill
Then, of course, I had to try it. It was a tight fit, but I made it. Mark, of course, just glided through.

Now I will have to try it. I could probably easily slip through too.
Scott
We figured out that Ken's LEGS would fit through, and we offered to lift him up so his belly would pass the post above the red railing. After looking over the railing in the down direction, for some reason Ken declined.

It is a long way down. 220 to 250 feet, depending on tide and where you are on the bridge. I would not want to be at sitting height on the railing either. (The survival rate is only about 2% for falls from the bridge, if I recall correctly.)
Scott
Mark is actually being very modest about his super-human strength. I took this pic of him right after he successfully lifted the bridge up about an inch higher -- you could even hear the gasps of amazement coming from the people watching, including all the way from the city skyscrapers in the distance... ASTOUNDING!!!!
Just another reason to grow your hair long!
Mark, weren't your arm muscles a bit soar after all of that weight-lifting? I even heard one of the bridge painters mention that they are going to re-name the color of paint after you: instead of "International Orange" in the future it will be called, "Hairball Orange!"
- Ken
The bridge color almost matches Mark's henna hair color, too. :)
- Oren
Yes, Bill & Larry and I were commenting about that just yesterday -- in fact, we tried to take some other p[ics next to various areas of the bridge, just to see how close in color we could get!
It was a really fun hike yesterday, and very nice weather, too.
I have more pics to share, but unfortunately have to get ready to go back to work this morning; so the photos will have to wait until I get back home about 5 days from now....
In the meantime though, have fun looking at whatever additional pics Bill & Mark will probably post of their own here, until I get back!
Take care, Oren -- and again, it was wonderful to finally meet you last weekend on Saturday!!
- Ken
OMG Ken, can you imagine them renaming the paint color after me!What an honor:) LOL.Well I admit being quite sore after that lift but the Chicken Pot Pie later on restored my energy;)Yes longhair and chicken pot pie, puuuurfect together! LOL.Oh and thanks to you,Bill, and Larry for being part of the day's festivities:) Cheers to good friends!

Hi Mark,
Man you do have super human strength! I really like the combo of the cool boots with the skinny jeans! A great look! I sure am glad you were there to keep the bridge from falling my friend!
Ted
Hi Ted,
Ha ha, yea that idea of holding up the low end of the main cable was one I couldn't resist! lol. Also was a great way to show off my hair length from behind while doing such a physical power lift ;) Oh well if you believe that I'll sell ya this bridge......
Mârk
I could touch the cable just barely. I'm a little bit shorter than Mark.
Bill
Here's a group shot of the Golden Gate Bridge Gang.
Ken, Bill, Mark, and Bill's husband Larry.

Very nice pic Bill and so nice of that person on the bridge offering to take it for us.
But the burning question remains ....where was Scott! Lol
Mârk
I think he's been in hiding ever since he saw Oren's beard. Scott just has to understand one of the basic laws of physics: Everything is bigger in Texas!
I would agree with this as a fellow Texas resident!
Ted
I thought you lived in a northern state?
Well, my head hair is a pittance compared to Scott's magnificent tress.
Alas, I don't think we got any photos of myself with Scott, Ken or Mark. That meet at Will's went kinda quick.
- O
I assume you got the e-mail with the link to the photos Will took, on his site. The one above is one he took of you. If you didn't get the e-mail, paw through your spam.
There were photos of you, of me, and of Scott, Ken, and Mark on Will's site, but none of us appeared along with you. It appears when the camera was dragged around, you were talking to Mike Kan. That's not surprising, since you both have an interest in technical things, and Mike has an interest in large beards. For me, it was good that you were there. You served as a protective anode, and unlike in previous years, Mike did not pursue me so much that I didn't get as much time as I wanted for talking with others. [grin]
Others besides Will were probably taking photos, but I don't know who. They may come up with photos in a few days. Keep an eye out.
Bill
Thanks Bill.
Yes - I did get Will's email and photos. If I was not with Mike talking high vacuum/high voltage, I was with Scott talking LEDs and electronics - I love it!
I do know that somebody snapped a shot of Scott and I on the sofa...
- Oren
Mark,
I think that cool lavender longsleeved tee shirt helps contribute to your super powers as well as the henna, skinny jeans and those kick ass boots. Quite the superhero's garb!
peace,
jonalbear

Sorry I missed this, but logistics were an issue. Had it been a meetup in Golden Gate Park, I would have come.
