I'm glad to have fun a place, where I can discuss long hair with others!
This is my progress so far; My apologies for the quality of the pictures, our dorm's bathroom mirrors are all I could use for the pictures.
A little bit about me, I'm 19 years of age. I've wanted to grow long hair since I was very young, my Mother does not like it, thus it was a constant battle for haircuts. When I turned 18, I finally decided I was going to grow out my hair like I've always wanted too.
It took a while, due to bad trims and such, but this is my progress!
I'm attending College at Southwestern Michigan College, and I;m living on campus.
I have a question I didn't see in the "General F.A.Q., nor the R.A.Q.
Is acne common on the face where hair covers it. I mainly get acne on the sides of my face. (This might be due to how I usually end up sleeping on my hair.)
My personal Milestones I've achieved are:
1. Cover my ears
2. Hair long enough to get in the way of eating
3. Female ask me how I keep my hair the way I do.
I just achieved number three today, by one of my dorm-mates girlfriend.
Thank you very much, I look forward to participating in this wonderful community!
Hey Alex, and welcome aboard! :)
You have an absolutely fantastic hair texture, and could achieve some really impressive feats if you keep growing and grooming it the way you do!
I wish you again welcome to the MLHH, and hope you feel at home here!
Hi Alex !!
....and Welcome to the MLHH. You will find lots of friendly folks here offering encouragement and advise.
You are off to a great start. Your hair looks wonderful.
We look forward to following your progress. Thanks for Sharing

Hi Alex,
You have hands-down TERRIFIC looking hair!!!
Thanks for the nice introduction and comments, and i think you are already off to an excellent start!
I experienced the same resistance and disagreement when I was young, only it was my dad who hated long hair on me and my brothers, not allowing it in his household; but rest assured, when you know within your own heart that long hair is right for you, growing it out is NOT a rebellious thing to do -- it is simply following your own feeling of destiny, identity, and the pursuit of your own happiness.
I strongly encourage you to keep it growing longer and looonger and looooonger, as long as it still puts a big smile on your face whenever you look in the mirror in the morning!

Hi Alex
Great progress and glad that at long last you are able to grow your hair out the way you have wanted.
I had that trouble when about your age and always blamed it on excess oily skin/scalp. It finally resolved itself but I can remember keeping the skin washed and oil free as possible. We didn't have all of the Shampoos back then that there are today, and using Conditioner just wasn't known about, at least by myself. The hair grew long and well despite all.
You are blessed with an especially good hair-type. Welcome to the MLHH! :-)
Justin~
WELCOME, Alex!
As the guys have already said - you are off to a great start -
How long his it been since you got your hair cut? It looks like almost a year's growth (depending on how short it was when you started)
I've been with this group for about 3 or 4 months and it is true - these guys are very encouraging and inspiring.
Best Wishes in your pursuits at school and in your life...
Fitz
Hi Alex,
Wow what a nice update! You have made excellent progress! Your hair color and texture is just lovely! I would love to see your hair longer! I am so happy to hear you have achieved all three of your milestones! You are well on your way to even better things my friend! Please keep your beautiful hair growing and flowing! I look forward to your future updates!
Ted
Hey Alex!
Congrats for having such a lovely hair! It already looks awesome so I am sure it will look even better once its longer.
Regarding acne and hair: if your hair produces too much oil and you sleep over it during the night, you may break up due to your skin getting in touch with your hair oil.
I would suggest you to tie back your hair in a ponytail when you go to sleep. That will avoid breakups in your face as well keeping your hair free of tangles next morning.
Don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have during your long hair journey.
Great hair! I, too, felt a desire to have long hair--an earliest memory for me. I had hoped my generation would have cleared a path for future generations to not face parental problems, but alas, it did not happen! Hang in there!
Your hair looks great, Alex!
Rooted hairs draw oils away from your scalp (and face if you're bearded) but oil just builds up on areas with no hair and in time it can fester. I get zits under where my bandannas touch my forehead, for example, if I don't wash the things. Of course, I also have to wash my forehead.
Try washing your face with soapy water and a wash cloth, including the areas normally overlain with hair, each morning when you get up. See if that cures the acne problem.

Thank you everybody for the welcome's and the compliments!
I'll be sure to tie my hair back tonight when I sleep.
It's probably been about a year since I've had it cut I believe, maybe a little less or more. (It's hazy due to it always a hot topic)
She has realized that I want my hair longer and only mentions getting my hair cut as a joke or when she gets coupons.
I'm very glad to see such a wonderful community presence, and will definitely enjoy participating with everybody!
Welcome aboard, Alex!
Great looking head of hair.

Hi Alex, welcome! Your hair looks great! It does look like its about a year in length to me, so I think your right on! What are your next milestones? I am not so patient of a person so I have to keep setting milestones for myself as well :)
