Haven't posted in a bit, but instead of the usual self-portraits, here's a collection of live shots that show the current state of my mane. These were taken at an SCA event this last weekend (which explains the funny clothes).
Frodo
Yep, that'd be us. Thanks for the link.
You still have amazing hair! Interesting, they rent our field
for an annual SCA event and there is usually some nice heads of
hair to be seen. But if I remember correctly you are located
back east and this is in California.
Thanks. :D
Yes, I'm out on the east coast. The even took place in central Virginia, near Williamsburg.
Hi Mr. Frodo
Great to see your post. Your hair is just amazing....Thanks for Sharing
Walter
Thanks, Walter
Hi JSFrodo!
How cool is that? Both lovely hair and some awesome cosplay?! Love it!
Thanks, Raul
From what I understand of the term "cosplay", what I do is something a bit different. We do historical re-creation, as opposed to acting out characters from fiction. My persona, for example, is a 16th-century German.
Cosplay is dressing up as a character and acting out as that character. If you're at a science fiction convention it's
basically wearing a hall costume and acting as if you're that
character. Many at science fiction conventions did this for
many years before it was called "cosplay."
My understanding is it started in 1984 at a World Con (World Science Fiction Convention.)
Costuming and costume constests (costume calls, masquerades,
were around many years earlier at science fiction conventions.
The first world con was in 1939 i believe.
Costuming is also not limited to science fiction conventions.
You'll find it at renaissance fairs, SCA activities, at the
many costuming groups (Norther Light Costumers, etc.)

I would mention too that there are folks who spend a few minutes putting together a costume and routine for costume contests. There are also those who are masters in the craft and spend
years builing the perfect comstume and a routine to go with it.
Absolutely stunning-looking hair, Mr. Frodo, a rare sight to see hair that long AND in that fine a condition (regardless of whether male or female hair; but especially unusual to see on a guy), truly inspiring!!!
Cool clothes, too -- must be fun to participate in these kinds of historic re-enactments!

Thanks, Ken. And yes, it's a great deal of fun. While my bum leg (hence the cane in the picture) no longer allows me to fence, I'm getting into archery, woodworking and leatherworking.
Hi Frodo,
Wow, what wonderful long and thick hair you have! A lovely update indeed! I am definitely inspired by this! I sure hope you enjoyed the event my friend!
Ted
Thanks, Ted. Yep, enjoyed it a lot. Got to be there to see two good friends step up as king and queen, and at the evening court, got one of our kingdom's awards for service, which is why I was kneeling before Her Majesty.
Hi Frodo,
Wow, what a great pic of your awesome hair! The hair and clothes are a perfect match my friend! I sure hope you enjoyed the event!
