Today I was having a coffee with a class mate from uni (a girl) and she was like "I love your hair. I wish mine was like yours. What products do you use? Whats your hair routine?".
This really shocked me because she's a girl with really nice long hair (waist length) . This is the second time in a week that a girl asks me what do I do to my hair.
This very same week a co-worker (also a girl) asked me the same.
Its seems to me that girls with long hair dont take care of their hair as much as long haired men do. Probably because they always had long hair and do not pay that much attention to it.
I never had long hair before so this is new to me (its like when you get a new car. At first you treat it like a baby, then you dont give a fck about it haha) Probably in 5 years I will not take care of it as much as I do now hahah. But for now, I try to care about it as much as I can.
Hi Dave,
I think you nailed it by saying women have always had the opportunity to have long hair so likely they take having it for granted. That's why they do all sorts of weird stuff to their hair like various dyes, perms or whatever they can dream up to make it different. In my view a guy is more apt to keep his hair traditional and because guys receive so much flak about their longhair they do make the effort to keep it looking nice. It's always been a struggle for guys to be accepted with longhair so they respect it more in my view.Of course there are exceptions.Cheers

Exactly. In general, when girls are asked about long hair on men they say "As long as its kept clean, its okay".
Hello b*tch, what the f*ck do you think we are? Just because we are men does not mean we are dirt. I hate when they say that.
I see more guys with healthy looking hair than women with healthy hair. So, should we say then: "Well, as long as women keep their hair healthy, they are entitled to grow it long" ? haha.
Point well taken as its simply a double standard.I've seen numerous women with hair that simply ain't that great but you hear them talk about a guys hair and you'd think they are rolling around in the dirt with it!Oh well we know the real truth don't we ;) LOL Cheers

True...but there is a subset of men with long hair who don't take care of their hair. Usually they don't take care of other things either, but hair can be seen from a distance. And it does look gross and befouled (but generally not actual "dirt"). In this context it is appropriate to translate "clean" into "cared for", and move on, without taking offense.
so what do you do to your hair to keep it healthy?
Well, hair care routine is very personal and that will depend on your hair needs. Each of us has a different type of hair so their routine will be up to the type of hair we have.
This is my current hair routine:
- I am using L'oreal "KERA-LISS" shampoo and conditioner. These products contain Keratine, which is a natural protein that hair has. It nourishes and seals the cuticles making hair look straighter.
- When I have split or dry ends, I use a Dove serum to seal them and that has been working pretty good to me because I am not willing to trimm the ends at this point. Probably when I achieve a longer length , not now.
- I shampoo ONCE a week (in general, on fridays). The other days I only co-wash once or twice.
- if my hair gets too frizzy due to the weather (I live in a very humid city) I use a Loreal oil . This oil contains different natural oils from flowers and it smells great.
