Well I have officially hit the 1 year mark. I looked back at my last expense at the barber and I think I'm actually a few weeks overdue for this post!
Anyway, I finally made it to 12 months! I'd hoped for more progress at this point, but like I've said before I am impatient. I do have hope looking back the last 6 months and seeing all the progress I've made. I'm anxiously looking forward to the next 6 and beyond! Thanks for all the inspiration and encouragement everyone gives around here!
Going to try and embedded this time...if it doesn't work I'll just attach it :)
Hey Tommy
I had to comment on your hair. I think it looks really awesome! You have great looking hair, congrats on your 1 year aniversary! Grow it longer and it'll look even better, your growth journey is serving as an inspiration to mine. Just have a question, how long was your hair at the beginning?
Thanks Hugo! This is the closest picture I could find to my starting length. I'd say this is probably less than 1 month after my last haircut.
Wow!! Happy 1st Anniversary :)
The pictures are great because we can totally see your hair texture, and let me tell you that I love it. I think you're gonna grow a fantastic mane and the hair texture is perfect if you want to be a long haired.
Your beard also looks great. I think you're gonna get a "Jesus look" with the beard and long hair haha. Can't wait to see it shoulder length.
Please keep that mane growing! And hey, don't worry that much about growing hair too fast. The more you worry, the less you notice the progress. Just let it be :)
That is really funny that you mention the "Jesus look". I don't know how many times someone has said that to me in the past few months! Probably 50 people!
-Tommy
Yes, but I love that look. Now I am person# 51 ! haha
Hi TommyD,
I have to agree with the other comments as your hair looks fantastic and has lots of potential.Great news on the one year anniversary with many more on the horizon:)You'll have a great head of hair as long as you stick with it and don't do anything crazy! Cheers
Mârk
Thanks Mark! I'm looking forward to many more!
-Tommy
Really impressive Tommy! I'm telling you, you're going to love it even more from this point on. Just enjoy your progression from month to month. It's an amazing journey of personal discovery!
My Blog
Thanks, I am really enjoying the month to month at this point!
-Tommy
Your hair has a texture and fullness that can only lead to one word.... Gorgeous. Keep the faith, my friend. you will be rewarded.
I appreciate your kind words!
Hi Tommy,
I think you have made excellent progress for 12 months! Your hair looks to be in great condition and has awesome shine! I do understand the impatience part, believe me! But just think of how happy you'll be when it gets even longer! I can't wait! And all the money we save-a great bonus! I look forward to your future updates my friend! Great weekend to you!
Ted
Thanks Ted. I wanted to point out my hairs curling up around my jaw which you can see pretty clearly in these pictures, since you and Raul are often mentioning the "wave" and "curl" of your hair. They do drive me crazy, always curling up like that!
-Tommy
And yet, your curling is really so minuscule, that it's not even worth mentioning, buddy! hehe... it's probably from laying the hair behind the ears in the past which gave it that form, but again- that is the very first thing I noticed when I first saw this timeline of yours... just how straight your hair is compared to mine, despite the other simmilarities! :)
Hi Tommy,
Yes, but even people with straight hair notice this. You will also probably have it curling and bunching up when it gets to your shoulders. And once it is able to fall freely past the shoulders, the curling will go away. Sometimes the curl will stay only at the bottom if a person has wavy or curly hair. If your hair is truly straight you won't see any curls at the bottom. I think if you had curly hair, you would notice curls closer to your temples and front hairline.
Just let that hair grow and I'm sure you will be happy with it! Mine finally quit bugging me around the ears. I still have some waves at the bottom. And mine is bunching up around my shoulders and collarbone area. It's also falling in my face plenty! That drives me crazy man! Keep it growing and flowing friend!
Ted
Hey Tommy! Your hair is looking great and it only gets better from here. Once you reach the length where you can tie it all back the change from month to month will feel a lot less noticeable but rest assured it will still be growing.
Thanks for the update, I can't wait to see how it'll look next spring! :-)

I started out thinking I wouldn't wear it back much, but the longer it gets the more I am looking forward to being able to pull it back!
Hi Tommy,
Congrats to you on one full year of growing, and your are doing very well indeed. You have excellent quality hair to work with, things can only get better and better, and I look forward to where you will be with another 12 months of growing!
Keep it growing,
David
Thanks David, another 12 months is exciting to think about!
Looks really good! You have an admirable head of hair. Now that you have a year in, does contemplating another year seem as long as it must have when you were starting out?
Chris
Hi Chris, thank you for your compliment.
Yes, and no I suppose. Yes because this past year seems to have been more like 3 or 4 with regard to thinking about my hair progress...but no because at this length I feel like I'm starting to look more like a guy with long-ish hair, vs. a lazy guy who just hasn't gone to get a haircut in some time.
Congratulations, Tommy!
I've told you this before and others are confirming now - you have fantastic hair - you've made excellent progress in a year's time... I share your feelings about the time it takes to grow out our hair - patience is what it takes, for sure...
I look forward to seeing how it looks 6 months from now.
I am two months behind you -
Thanks Fitz, another 6 months hopefully will put me at shoulder length!
Hairs looking good, Tommy! Starting to look like a true long hair now and it only gets better from here. Cheers, bud! :)
Thanks Mark, I am starting to feel like one too.
Looking amazing Tommy. You wear it well.
Thanks man, I appreciate it.
Hey Tommy!
Dude, I am so happy for you! Your hair looks fantastic for 12 months of growing, and you are really on the verge of tipping over to "officially longhair" territory! :)
No grey hairs either, it seems, so you are luckier than this old fella' of 30, hehe :D
Haha thanks Raul! I just turned 28 a few weeks ago, so hopefully I am good without gray hairs! My father is 53 and is just now starting to get gray hair popping out, so hopefully I have those genes!
Thanks for all the great comments guys! I also wanted to say RL has been crazy busy the past few weeks, so sorry I haven't been posting as much. I am hoping to get caught on all the posts at some point in the next few weeks :).
-Tommy
Hey Tommy,
There's no point in me beating around the bush: you have KILLER-looking hair!!!
You're one of those lucky dudes who's the envy of every town, -- for both male and female -- the kind of hair everyone wishes they were born with!
.... And for that reason, and that reason alone, I am no longer going to speak to you!! (LOL)
All kidding aside, I hope you keep it growing longer and looooonger and looooooooonger... Hell, even if it reaches the floor, why let that stop you? When you get to be an old fart like me, you might even become famous and be listed in the Guinness Book of Records for "Man with the Longest and Most Awesome Hair!"
- Ken in San Francisco
Thanks Ken! The longer it's getting, the more compliments are starting to come in! I do appreciate all the kind words you've given!
