My hair is all one length and mid back in length and just seems to really have no charactor. I can get a wilder look when I shake when wet and let it dry, it gets more body and some curl. I am thinking about going in and having it layered, any suggestions on what to ask for? I have really thick hair so I should be able to have any length of layering done and still look long. Should I go a little shorter?

I would just leave it alone, if you get it layered it may look funny at times up close. my has it dont and if you look at it up close you can actually see all diffeernt lengths. she regrets it now but she thought that she would get it done because its so thick.
Treyn, Could you please re-post the examples you were talking about, I cannot pull them up. If I do get it cut, any recommendations on where to go? Any of the chain haircut places any good? For so long all I have had done is the bottom ends cut and one of my good friends has been doing that.
I think layers look fantastic. All one length is boring.

The top tri-image layer of this pic is him with all one length hair which I think is AWESOME!! The bottom tri-image layer is where he made a bad mistake in my opinion. He got his hair layered and lost some length. Decide which you like better.
I think the layered cut looks far better! go for the layered look
