Looking for any hair care suggestions for the nighttime. Would like to prevent snarls and such. My hair has just now reached the bottom of my shoulderblades, in the center, as I've not yet cut it even across the bottom - just letting it grow in as it will.
Hair-net? Braid? Multiple tied pony tail?
I've heard that using satin or silk pillow cases can help prevent breakage, because they allow the hair to slip rather than get caught - would that be true?
Thanks,
~Dave
I would say give the Multiple tied pony tail a try and see how it goes. I for one had very good luck doing this.
Justin~
I guess that by "multiple tied pony tail" you mean putting your hair into a pony tail and pony tail the tail of it . Not sure if I was clear haha If thats what you meant , then I must say that's the correct way (at least to me) . Not only prevents my hair from getting messed up, but also the next morning my hair looks straighter with this technique.

Thanks for the tip, I was just trying that out for the first time..
Have a great weekend..
I sleep on my side and just group the hair together right next to the side of my body and lay on it. Haven't had any problem with snarls, breakage, etc. And when I conition it today it will be less poofy tomorrow.
Just leave it alone - I have never had any problems.
I just flip it up over the pillow so that I don't end up with it under me when I'm rolling around.
Tuck your hair into your shirt before you go to bed and that way most of your hair stays inside your shirt while you sleep. Works for me!
yes - long hair in bed can be hazardous ... hehehe - I've a satin pillow case & highly recommend them - I 'pony' my hair ALWAYS when sleeping - cause I'm sick of going 'OUCH' !!! in da night ... & sweeping the locks outta my my eyes / ears / mouth / nose & any where else it prefers ... hehehe cheers CEM. :)))
Oddly enough, I have NO problems sleeping with long hair... whether loose, braided, in a bun, segmented ponytail, upside-down, rightside-up, smooshed over my face, hanging off the bed, dangling out the window... As long as my hair is still there when I wake up in the morning, I'm a happy camper!

Hi Dave,
I regret that my hair has a ways to go until I consider it long! But in about a year I will be able to give you a better answer! My apologies! But it looks like you have received some great ideas here. Keep it growing my friend!

I don't have too many problems myself, but my wife sometimes complains that it gets in her face and such, so I have used the multiple band ponytail just to keep it controlled.
Based on my own experience, multiple hair ties or a bun has worked best for me.
I use a satiny football jersey as a pillow case - works great.

I just avoid laying on mine. I think I grab it and throw it over out of the way.
