Not quite my 4 year update but it's my first braid, cheated by making my mom braid it though, I'm just not that skilled.
Hey, in this case, "cheating" is perfectly OK in my book -- that is one awesome braid!!!!
To braid your hair on your own, it just takes practice... Practice, practice, practice! Even if your first attempt looks like hell, just try it. A local friend of mine first taught me how to do that by just turning my head upside-down (by bending at the waist) after it gets too uncomfortable reaching your hands behind your back... It was difficult my first time, but now I don't even have to think about it.

I didn't have anyone to show me the ropes so I worked it out on my own. When I first started out, I would use a hair tie at the base to hold the hair in place as I started the braid. Instead of the gymnastics required to get a center braid, I just turn my head to the side as far as comfortable. This however results in an off center braid which to me is no biggie. Instead of hanging down your back, it hangs over your shoulder. All said and done, yours looks very nice indeed.
Thanx, so many ways to start learning, I do like my hair over my shoulder a lot of the time, so I can try this also.
Thanks ken, I've always thought your hair was awesome, love the color, I'm going to try your upside down method, one day I will post my own braid.
Your braid looks cool.... I wish my hair was that long, mine seems to grow slower, as my last hair cut was almost that long ago...
Thanks, your hair will get to this stage in time, reminds me of my native friend who can pull off 3/4" a month, he grew long hair and cut it off, sad.. He looked way cooler with it.
Thanks for the encouragement....... I know guys who's hair grows real fast.... but ALWAYS are complaining that it time for another hair cut!
..... I say I don't wanna hear it......
Hi MegaCheezle,
I must say that is one heck of a good braid you have there! Looks awesome for a first braid man! I can't wait to get to that point! You have definitely inspired me to keep growing my friend! Thanks for the great update! Have a wonderful weekend!
Ted
Thank you Ted, glad I inspired you, this is my 3rd or 4th attempt at long hair, the
other times I only made it to one year, I'm happy I've finally done it. I still have my real 4 year update coming, it will come in nov.
I will be waiting anxiously for your update man! I love updates! Please keep it growing!
Ted
It is metroid!
That looks great, Cheez! There's no such thing as a perfect braid.
- Oren
Thanx Oren, I may want to try learning this art of braiding.

Nice braid. It looks like you have a good beard as well.
Scott
Thank you, and yes still have my beard, I flat bottom it and keep it at 7-8"
LOVE IT !!! - great pic. - I love the plait on men - it restrains with class & more exotic than a plain 'pony' - but trouble is unless we have / or can grab a Mum, bestest girl-friend, partner, neighbour, house-keeper, gardener, meter-reader, pool-cleaner or a complete stranger passing by in the street, to do it for us = then we're stuffed, unless we learn to do it ourselves = which is so damn hard ... the amount of times I've said to random / miscellaneous throngs = 'can you plait my hair' !??! = I can't count ! ... hehehe cheers CEM. :)))
Thx, glad I'm not the only one with a non braiding skill.
Looks great, long and thick !!
Thank you kind sir.
Wow looks like you've made great progress over the past almost 4 years! Have you trimmed your hair at all in that time? That braid does look pretty cool, someday I'll be able to try it as well :).
-Tommy
I have not trimmed it, unless you can count am evil creeper I was rolling on under a car taking some hair after rolling onto my pony tail, it was not more than around 20-30 hairs at an inch, but I threw that creeper a good 20 feet, it pissed me off to lose hair.
