An update on my 40th high school reunion.
At $90 I did not attend. The two friends I remember from
those years also did not attend.
Now I spent years with these people in high school and
the two friends who did not attend are the only ones I
remember.
I was looking at photos from the reunion, my God how old everyone
looks. (But then I should talk, i'm also old.)
A lot of he guys have no hair, those that do have hair have it cut
very short. My hair is longer than every guy who there, my hair
is longer than every woman who was there. Every woman.
But after 40 years I have to say I don't recognize anyone from
high school. It's kind of scary to realize I don't remember
anyone from high school except the two that weren't there.
If they have a 50th year reunion, would I go? I don't know,
depends on when it is, where it is, and how much it costs.
If it's $90 again the answer would be no.
If I do go to the 50th I absolutely would not cut my hair,
It would be great fun to go in there and have hair longer than
every guy there and every woman. And I could rub it in that I
have hair and many of them don't. That would be cruel to rub it
in like that but I'd sure enjoy it.
On a side note, it's a good thing I didn't go to the reunion
since one of he former commanders of our civil war group died
a few days prior to the reunion and was waked the day of the reunion.
Was this awakening on Easter or on Halloween?
Bill
That's an interesting question Bill! Glad you asked!
Ted
No his wake was the day of the reunion. Open casket.
That's good. Those things are a bitch to open from the inside.
(The double meaning of your post had Larry and me cracking up, and I suspect Ted did, too. [grin] )
Bill
ROFL!!! And if you were able to open it from the inside, Bill, the next time I come over to your house I'll play the role of Christian Slater in "Interview with a Vampire 2!"
If you chew on my neck, you are going to end up with a mouthful of hair!
B
Cracked me up!!! Sorry to LHIA but that was funny!

*OMG, 40 years, now that's a long time. Even worse for me. 48 years! Where has the time gone and I doubt I would recognize anyone that may still be left. I sure hear you.
* Sorry to hear of this as I know how envolved you have been with this fantastic group of guys. You have my deepest sympathy and I am most sure that your presence at the wake was greatly appreciated.
With all good wishes and hope you are having a nice weekend. :-)
Justin~
All kidding aside, I do want to say that I hope the deceased rests in Peace. It is a noble thing you all do.
Ted
You should have went.
You should have went.
There is no way i could justify spending $90 for this reunion.
My understanding is that a reunion should only be in the $35
neighborhood. Also given that I only remember two from that
high school class (neither of whom went), I opted not to go.
I would also mention that I only attended that high school for two years, many in that class probably knew each other for many years.
I agree that $90 is stupid but you should've still went to it.
You mentioned "rubbing it in their faces.." That's is why you will always regret not going. And I think you already do, hence the long post about it.
I do kind of regret not going but I coudln't justify the $90
price tag. $30 was the most I willing to pay.
Interesting about not remembering people after that many years. I have a somewhat alike experience. I went to a school where everyone really knew everyone, to the extent of knowing names and faces (obviously we all weren't friends). Now, almost 30 years later, I hear some names or see some faces and have trouble matching the two. This comes up fairly frequently because I will hear from my mother or my sister (who still live in town) about so-and-so, or so-and-so's brother or sister. It's scary to me the number of times I really have to think, or pull out the yearbook, to remember.
One thing I would mention is many of the kids in my high school class knew each other for many years, whereas I only attended this high school for two years.
This wss also a very rich town, many of the kids had tons of money at their disposal, and the arrogance/elitism to go with it.
Our family on the other hand was not rich.
Many of these kids were in school for 14 years together, I on the other hand was only in school with them for two years.
I also wasn't on any sports team, and wasn't good at phys ed.
