right now my hair length is down to my mouth and i'm gonna go take pictures for my senior yearbook friday and i'm thinking of cutting it short.....help me out FAST... to cut or not to cut?
Real easy. Don't cut it.
Rob
thanks guys
Trust me, DON'T CUT IT, you may think it's good in the short run but your gonna seriously regret it within a week or so. i know i've been there, i've wanted to cut my hair really bad but i somehow didn't (thank God for the 2 week rule LOL)
I've been in the same situation of wanting to cut, even followed the 2 week rule and then cut. At first it is cool but then i started getting really depressed & hating myself for it. I'd say dont cut unless you have a really good reason.
what is this 2 week rule you say?
If the thought of this being your senior yearbook picture and it lasting forever is influencing you at all, just remember that many of us don't look like we did in our yearbook pictures. From what I remember, I was the ONLY guy with long hair in my senior yearbook picture and I now look at how I wore it then and think, "what the hell was I thinking!". Haha! But you'll realize that it's all part of life and it's no big deal. If you've been wanting long hair, and it sounds like you're almost through the awkward stage, it would be a shame to cut it now and then start all over because you didn't see it through this time. Moreover, whether your plans are to either go to college or work, you'll look more professional being able to pull it back in a ponytail, rather than cutting your hair, regretting it, and then trying to go through the awkward stage later when your on the job or in college. Lastly, keep in mind the reason why you're growing it in the first place. If you think having long hair might be your true identity, I wouldn't think you'd feel as "whole" if you cut it. In any case, I understand what you're going through. Good luck and let us know your decision.
So with my hair being at my mouth i'm almost through that infamous awkward stage that i hear a lot about. you make a good point about the ponytail thing. when i was younger the only length i was allowed to grow my hair was above or in the middle of my ear and been doing that until 4 years ago when i shaved my head cuz i tried a different sylist and she messed up a spiked haircut (which was popular at the time) now i started over and i do undercuts every 2 months (is that ok?)
If your undercut is not too extreme it should be fine.
If I had left my hair alone 14 years ago when I first moved up to Illinois from North Carolina, I would be extremely long haired and happy today. But over the years I tried and tried but never could tolerate the thickness. Back then I went with the mullet look with hair long in back and trimmed up over the ears and on top but always ended up cutting it short. Before I started my current journey, I kept it flat-topped which my wife and I both really hated. But now, I am determined and doing what I should have done years ago: Tolerating the awkward stage and just letting nature take it's course and keeping myself healthy as possible. I am also letting all of it grow long. I am currently longer over the ears than I have ever been in all my born days. I am closing in on chin level with the bangs. End of this year I'll be there! LOVING IT. Can't wait till I reach my goal of terminal length, but I am enjoyng the journey all the same. Moral of all this jabber you might ask?! Don't make the same mistake I have made oh so many times. KEEP IT LONG, RIGHT OR WRONG, BABY - YEA!!!!
can u tail yet? if so how long?
good luck dude!
yes and it's at 6 inches out in a tail
Think of it this way, would you like your kids looking back at your old year books and pictures and not seeing the real you and how you looked at this time.
cut it off, shave it, your not into long hair.
man my principle wants me to cut my hair and like ive told him that at least let me have it till my ears cuz thats even allowed in islam but the rest of the teachers r torchuring me. pls tell me wat to do and email me at monimafia2000@hotmail.com.
i dint no that keeping long hair was a problem in the united states
hey thats not right. united states got that whole freedom shit and it should be allowed
School hasn't even started yet!
What a crock!
(At least at my school), the senior portraits are taken during the summer.
I have never heard of pictures taken before the school year even starts.
And to take up the argument the other person made...if you have to take pictures before the school year to get them in a yearbook that is printed some 7 months later, why only seniors? Why not underclassmen? Also, if you have to do everything the summer before school, how do you have pictures of the year's athletic events? Homecoming? The prom? Senior play? Etc, etc.
In today's computerized world, a small group can put together a yearbook as the year progresses with very little time needed.
In other words, to say you need to ake pics before the school year to get them in the yearbook on time is a joke!
Until now, I've NEVER heard of a school that takes pics BEFORE the year even starts. Our local schools take pics twice during the year. One in the fall, one in the spring, and you get to choose which gets in the yearbook. Funny how we don't need to take pics 7 months in advance!
This whole thread is a joke. And like another person said...if you're debating it, just whack it off and go with short hair. You aren't serious about having long hair if that's your attitude.
i'm just coming out to check out some responses and seniors should get a yearbook to remember all their friends when they leave for college. why not underclassmen yearbooks? hell they got another freakin 3 years to after they become freshmens
Let's work on our spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Judging by how you write, I'd say you never made to being a freshman.
Last time I checked, ALL grades were in the yearbook, not just seniors. Juniors, sophomores, and freshmen are all in the yearbook too; as are pictures and descriptions of events that happen throughout the entire school year.
It wasn't necessary to take school pictures before the school year started even when I went to school. In today's compterized world, it's even less necessary.
I still say the post that started this thread was bogus.
yea whatever........don't talk!
As a recently graduated senior, I understand both sides of this.
In most schools that I've seen in this area (Eastern US), the school-sponsored pictures cover only underclassmen, and are taken twice a year allowing for reschedules and retakes.
Seniors, however, go to an independently owned photography studio (usually in the summer so that orders are returned by the time school starts) to have their "senior portraits". These are unlike the school photos, in that an entire photo shoot is conducted, including outdoor photos, interest photos with school jerseys, instruments, or cars, and a formal suit or drape (specially made velvet top for s) to include in the yearbook.
a fellow Eastern US resident that knows what i'm talking about
there ya go, my school collects them beginning in october
As a yearbook adviser and teacher at a public high school, I can tell you that most high schools require students to have their yearbook pictures taken during the summer before their senior year to meet stringent deadlines for submission into the yearbook. While I realize that we rarely look like what we did in high school, I also realize that parents often easily pay more than $600 for senior portraits. Parents want pictures that they can proudly display in their homes for years to come. (And please don't give me the "his look is long hair" speech.)Tommy needs to think of a way to make his hair look its best at this length. If he and his parents, who are footing the bill for these pictures, can't agree, I would suggest a cut. He has the rest of the year and his life to grow out his hair. I know this won't be a popular answer on this board but he is living at home and his parents are more than likely paying for these pictures. It's amazing what a little compromise on both sides can do to ease a situation like this. Believe me, I've had seniors take several sets of pictures with different looks (w and w/o goatees, earrings, etc., short hair, ponytails, etc.) as a compromise thing.
By the way, my hair reaches well below my shoulders.
Marv, thanks for the advice but i'm paying for my own yearbook pictures. my parents don't mind the long hair unless i'm not some weirdo plus asian families don't mind if the guy got long hair
