The tippy tips are at 62".
I was trying to get pictures of my hair in good condition against an interesting background (didn't quite get the background as my feet weren't happy enough with the new shoes to allow me to go the 5 trail miles to get the view I wanted). I also wanted to put the wifi remote feature on my new smaller camera to the test (wifi to an app on my cellphone).
Out of the 38 shots, got half a dozen where the breeze died down. It is a real convenience when taking back shots to be able to see what the camera is seeing!
Some of the shots were more like this...
Sorry about the goofy look.
Forgot to put the camera on short delay...
GREAT PICTURES, Pup... your hair looks so thick, and it really is spectacular - so good to see each picture, whether your camera was cooperating or not...
Hi Trolleypup,
Gosh! What a treat to see this today! You are looking most splendid my friend! I see no goofy look! But I must inform you that I take the honor for looking goofy! I thank you kindly for giving me much inspiration to keep growing! Every time I see a photo of you and your hair, I change my goal length! Hopefully I can even get to waist, but you make me want past waist! Thanks again for the update!
Ted
Ted, I can not even imagine what it is like to have hair that long, can you?
Gary
Hi Fitz,
No, I can't! But I am more than willing to find out! Right now I like the way my hair rubs and moves on my upper back without a shirt on! My minimum goal length remains waist. But Trolleypup is making me want to revise that! By the way, how is your hair coming along?
Ted
It's coming along nice, Ted - thanks for asking...
I am really enjoying it more lately - finally moving past the weird stage - it stays tucked behind my ears if I want it to and is just beyond collar length in back..> I will send a photo update and Christmas wishes in December when I reach the one year mark.
I hear that!
Hi Spaf Man,
Absolutely my friend! Onward and downward!
Ted
Hi Trolleypup,
Just lovely man! Your hair is so shiny and smooth looking! Very glad you took these photos with the very nice surroundings! Love the one with your hair blowing in the breeze! Awesome!
I wanted to ask you how much your hair straightened out as it got longer. At about what length did you notice the waves starting to fall out? I love the subtle waves you have through the length!
Ted
I never had more than mild waves, definitely never anything that could be called curls. What changes my pattern more than anything else is what I use on it. With full commercial shampoo and conditioner, I am almost straight (not too far from what you see in my mid-length in these pictures).
Here, my hair has been bunned all day, 3rd day from wash, so the waves have been flattened out pretty well, and combed as well. Those long pretty waves at the bottom are from bunning...my tips are pretty much straight from wear and tear, but they will take a curve from the end wrapping of the bun.
On others who have stronger waves, somewhere around mid-back is where things start to flatten out (i.e. the end of triangle-head/big hair). You are probably in that camp, but if you have the patience for very long curly hair, it can be spectacular!
Hi Trolleypup,
I really appreciate the information! I still am not sure about my waves. I need to wait until all of my stupid layers grow out and my hair can really hang past the shoulders. Right now it is just bunching up at my shoulders and irritating me. I definitely could do without the triangle head crap!
I do find the same thing you do with the full shampoo/conditioner. I lose some of the waviness when I first wash. After a few days of no washing my hair gets better feeling and more wavy. I will tell you that it is getting a little better though. My hair is almost all sitting behind the shoulders. I do suspect when I hit mid-back I will be pleasantly surprised and very happy with my hair. Thanks again for the info and inspiration!
Ted
Hi Trolleypup,
I love this picture of you standing on those rolling hills with the browned out grass and blue skies!Great contrast with your jet black hair so a very good shot in my opinion. Also a testament that yes, men can grow long hair! Cheers

Lots of silver in there, but the shine of the sun disguises the silvers in there! Something you can hide or accentuate using lighting. Also, my big camera shows better detail at a lower actual resolution.
Your mane-ficient hair is incredible. You continue to be an inspiration.
Karsten
You're not doing so bad yourself as an inspiration!

Your hair looks fantastic, Robert. Yours is longer than mine now. From the background, I have determined the location to be somewhere on Mt. Diablo. That can be a windy place, especially at the top.
Scott
This is certainly the foothills of Mt. Diablo. This is the SW corner of the Shell Ridge Open Space...on the little cherry stem that points towards Sugarloaf Open Space.
AWESOME.... You are truly inspiring!
Thanx so much for sharing....
Thanks for the compliment!
Even if most won't ever go for my length, letting people know what it is an option is enough.
Awesome mane Robert! Now on to calf length:)
Actually, the seam in the pants is just above knee...my longest hairs are at the widest part of my calves.
Onward to Ankle, I can hope!
Thanks for the response Robert. I think you should "grow for it!"
You've got me whipped in the mane department, so I'm doing the best I can with my goatee:) It's currently ankle length, and should reach the ground by the end of next year (I'm 5'-9").
Wow 62" is impressive...your hair is longer than my wife is tall! Congrats on that achievement and just wanted to say I love the look!

Thanks!
It's nice that I can have it down and enjoy it, AND throw it up and out of the way too!
As for a the look, it is really what is easily maintained.
I, like many others, am extremely envious.
It's easy, just pick the right parents. All the other stuff you have to do follows that. And can't overcome the genes anyway.
True enough though, that I've made choices that make my path easier.
Hi Robert,
Really wonderful pics here, in every way outstanding!!!!!
Sometime after the Holidays are far behind us, you and I should go somewhere with similar classic Calif. scenery for background, and take hair pics until we're absolutely sick and tired of doing so (which, for us, probably means a HELL of a LOT of photo-taking - LOL).... It doesn't have to be too far away (especially considering I no longer own a car); but I can think of a few excellent SF locations that would work: Sutro Bath ruins (on a non-windy day -- which might be difficult of course - LOL) or Lincoln Park w/ the GG Bridge in the background, various locations in GG Park (although the Dahlia garden is ugly in winter , so not there - LOL)....
It sounds like you have the same approach to photography that I do: I take a ton of "insurance shots" -- because there will always be one or two really good ones, the more I'm willing to keep snapping the button to do the editing later.
The only major problem I foresee is that you are much more naturally photogenic than I am. Anybody willing to take pics of me has to realize that my true desire is that maybe you can make me look like Orlando Bloom or George Clooney with knee-length reddish-blonde hair... even though I fully understand that the "reality" will be that all photographs of myself always result in me looking exactly like Santa Claus (but making me blame the photographer for this) - LOL!

Thanks! Finding a spot out of the wind, with decent light, and a bit of background wasn't difficult...granted, it was in the middle of a 22.5 mile walk...but I knew, as soon as I got off the Iron Horse Trail and into open space, there would be plenty of places to fit the bill...and a much better backgrounds a couple miles further on.
Beyond that, it was all technical issues...a camera (small but well featured), a tripod (cheap), a remote, standing in the right spot (easy with the remote). And remembering the tools to detangle and comb out.
I'm always up for excursions, and I have access to wheels if needed.
I'm not that good at photoshopping, so you'll just have to be the best Santa you can be!
We can probably accomplish a lot simply by going to places that MUNI buses go to; but every once in awhile I occasionally rent a ZIP car myself -- in which case, the Marin Headlands is always such a cool place (and not too far) to get to, the only problem being the wind factor...
LOL, no worries, and I don't know how to photoshop, either -- which is probably just as well, since I like to know that hair pics have NOT been faked... although I don't ob ject to "stretching the truth" a little (like by tilting my head back to make my hair look an inch or 2 longer - LOL)!
