hello everyone, grew out my hair a few years back. as my hair got longer I would get knots on the back of the head. hopefully this time around I can mitigate this as I have had some experience in growing it out. What kind of hair type to you all think I am? BTW great site I used this site as inspiration my first go around. here is a pic of me when I first was growing my hair out. I would say it was almost two years of growth at the time of the picture but not sure. currently at 3 months.
harbinger19,
Cool curls!

Hi harbinger19,
Thanks a bunch for such a great photo of your awesome curly hair! Welcome to the board! I would say you are a type 3b. Very nice and healthy looking hair you have my friend! I must say you remind me of the great Phil Lynott from Thin Lizzy. Please keep your wonderful hair growing and flowing! Can you just imagine what it would look like even longer? Here is a pic of Phil.

3c m iii would be my guess as to your hair type. (Fia's hair typing system)
Curly hair is a real challenge to grow long. If you get past the worst part of growing it out, you will probably have long hanging ringlets. Bodhi had these. See post 176995.

Ten years ago my mane was 2c-F-i and my beard was 4b-C-ii. I couldn't grow my beard long because it got too gnarly. I could stick a pencil in it and it would not fall out. Now it will, if I shake my head.
In my first few years of life, my mane was 3b.
I have never done anything to alter the natural condition of my mane or beard strands, so these can change, and quite drastically as one goes through life.

That is amazing your hair went from 3b all the way to what it is now! I didn't realize hair could change so drastically. I would agree with you on his hairtype though.
Ted
Is there any other website from where I can get pics for example mentioned ?
If you're talking about hair types, yes. Check here:

Thanks for the links and expanations, Ted and Bill!
Definitely a 2b/2c/m/ii/iii here, from those pics!
Thanks Bill for the advice. I had no Idea a person's hair type can change over time.
Great curls, I wish you the best in growing out this time.... don't give up! Thanks for posting...
Thanks everyone for the comments! I'll be posting updates as my hair starts becoming longer .
Welcome to the board, brother! :)
Just amazing, absolutely spectacular -- but I can appreciate how it must take quite a bit of extra work to keep it from getting too tangled or matted as it gets longer, as I know from my own long hair experience I have to keep on top of my hair maintenance routines and rituals (and my hair is much more strait than yours).
In any case, I'm so glad to hear you are growing your mane back -- it is truly BEAUTIFUL!!!!
