Could I really pull this off?
Not that I want to be anyone's imitator, but I really like the entire look Leto is sporting in 2013, and all you guys' comments got me thinking, could I actually use his as my long hair inspiration? Hmmm...
I have been going through a mild blue/grey contact lense craze lately, and have already 3 different pairs on their way to me as we speak, so I really hope I manage to recreate that natural, bright blue look with some of those.
As for the hairtype... yeah... his is definitely FINE hair, and much less wavy... but I am pretty sure I can reach something rather similar after about 2 years of growth. Not sure about how one reaches that color though? It seems almost bleaches by the sun on the bottom?
What do you all think?
I already told you - and you thought I was trippin' Could you really pull this off? Of course, you could... Keep your dark hair, though - but seriously, your side by side photos shows me that I was not trippin'. I think you look a lot like him. But, if you want to pass for him, you'll have to work on your guitar skills, too. That video was awsome.
Fitz
Thanks, Fitz!
Yeah, the one thing I don't like about coloring my hair (from what I can remember from back in the day), is that I always tried achieving a lighter brown, and it's always become either completely bleached blone, or orange... either way, making the hair damaged. Perhpaps natural color will have to do :)
I definitely think you could pull that look off. It looks great on him and would on you as well. Though I'd perhaps push for a little longer length and I have to agree with Fitz about leaving your hair its natural color. Like you said, he may have achieved that naturally through the sun but it looks a little too blond IMO to be totally natural.
I'm admittedly biased but I think the blue eye look is really cool on you. You mentioned that you have three sets of contacts coming. Are they all slightly different shades of blue? I'm curious if one would be a match to my color pictured here.
Hey Jason!
Yeah, I did think the lower part of his hair looks too light "locally" to be bleached naturally, almost as if it's dyed/bleached artificially. Would indeed love to achieve a lighter brown color over all, but I think I might have to let it all grow out first before thinking about coloring anything at all :)
As for the lenses... here are my experience with blue contact lenses so far:
1. Freshlook Colorblends Brilliant Blue- those are the ones in the picture above of me. They are very artificial, and the tone of the blue doesn't really show that well in darker lighting. It also looks a bit "zombie/vampire" ish at times.
2. Freshlook Colorblends Sterling Grey- those are in my eyes usually these days. Give a more natural light blue tone, though my brown eyes are still showing through them. Best I've used to sfar.
3. Expressions Colors Grey- in the mail. Should look more natural, we shall see.
4. Bausch & Lomb Platinum Softlens natural colors Platinum- in the mail. The ones I have the highest expectations from. People with dark eyes using them on youtube are showing drastic change, alot closer to your natural eye color. Can't wait!
Showing the B&L Platinum's on rather dark eyes.
I have high hopes for these!
Hi Raul,
Absolutely my friend! With your great looks, you can pull anything off! (I'm jealous!) In your avatar pic on Youtube, your hair looks an awful lot like Leto's here. So this tells me you shouldn't have much trouble. But you will never know unless you do it! I think it's very cool that you are experimenting with the different colored contacts! I am not sure about that color either. Could be natural sun bleaching. Follow your heart my friend!
Ted
Hey Ted!
On my YT avatar picture, you see my hair after my ex-wife used about 45 mins to straighten it all with a hot iron! Hehe.. that is not it's natural state!
Though I could perhaps only straighten the tips if and when I get to that length and want a different look :)
Contacts with colors are fun, Ted! What else is life for than for enjoying it ? :)
Hi Raul,
Man, I thought that was your natural hair! I kept thinking, why is he always complaining about the curls? Is your hair really curly at that length? How much shrinkage do you figure you have? Does your hair only curl at the ends when it gets long?
You are correct about having fun! Must enjoy life! I would be interested to see pics of the different colored lenses in your eyes. That would be cool:) Keep having fun!
Ted
Well, it HAS been quite a few years, but from what I can recall, at just that length of the hair still somewhat laying on top of the shoulders, I would gets TONS of curls on the bottom.
Here, I tried editing some pics to show it better.
Btw, I would absolutely love to show you guys the lenses when they all get here next week ;)
Thanks for posting these pics Raul! But doesn't the curling fall out when your hair gets past shoulder length? A lot of times the shoulders curl the hair as it dries sitting on them.
I look forward to seeing those lenses buddy!
Ted
Your guess is as good as mine, Teddy! Never got that far! :D
Will do with the lenses, promise!
these curls do not bother me at all - Raul, you are going to have gorgeous hair, man... just go with what you've been given - most guys and girls would die for the curls you've got (and your looks, too)
sorry - I just had to comment on your conversation with Ted after seeing those pictures of your hair
Here are my thoughts:
You both have similar hair types ( Although you say your hair curls up at the ends, but that is a nice look as well and its the kinda look he has on that pic you uploaded ) .
As for the color, remember that the ends are the oldest parts of your hair so it is normal that the color fades as years go by, specially if you live in a beach area or a place where you have too much sun exposure ( In general these artists live in South Cali, in places such as Los Angeles and usually go to the beach so that is normal).
During summertime my hair tends to light up a lot more too because the weather in my hometown is as hot and sunny as Southern California , so that happens naturally.
If you, in Norway, dont have too much sun exposure, I think you can try some hair products to light up the color. Not bleaches or anything, I heard about sprays that you apply to your hair , then you expose yourself to the sun for a few minutes and it lights up automatically.
There is a brand sold in the USA called "Sun in" that is great for that purpose.
Great tips there, Dave!
I will definitely make sure to check for such lightening products later on, as long as they don't harm the hair! In that case, I would rather keep my brown color, especially seeing as it usually gets a bit lighters as it gets older, as you say :)
Yeah, I think it will get lighter as it gets older because its the hair that "suffered" more sun exposure so it will do so eventually OR another option is to move to a beach area, which would not be a bad idea hahaha
Hi Raul,
Yes, you can definitely achieve this, and in my opinion, you could use his hair as an inspiration for your initial goal, and may even consider growing it longer once you have reached your first goal. I think the blue contacts is a cool look as well.
Good luck on your continued journey!
David
Thanks for the support and love, David! Always appreciated!
As others have said, you very well could get his look!
Have fun with the eye color, I think you will do just fine..
...Have fun!
The Spaf Man
Thanks, man! =)
I'm sure you could pull it off. One thing that I see in the photo is that his hair seems to be quite layered, longer underneath than on top. That's something I would approach with caution if you do it at all....it seems to be easy to screw up layering long hair.
Like the others below, I'm interested in seeing your contact experiments.
Chris
Hey buddy, I think you could absolutely pull off that style. Your color looks nearly identical in that comparison picture to me.
