Hello all.
I found this place via a Cracked.com article actually deriding the forum. Typical bashing from a shorthair! Well I am glad they mentioned you guys. I've been a longhair since I was 12. My sister was into guys with long hair and as I was her little brother she insisted I have long hair.
I kept it as long as possible until I entered the corporate world around age 24. Then I kept it short until circa 2004 when I decided to never cut it again.
The pic shows me in 2002 when I was still in the corporate shorthair mode, then in 2009 at Burning Man and most recently in Oct of 2013.
It may have reached the end of its anagen phase and be as long as it will get. Maybe not. I suspect it may be as when I was a kid it was never much longer than it is now, at the small of my back. But with any luck it'll keep going :-)
Happy to have found this board and I will be looking here often!
Welcome to the MLHH Michael! Have to say I love your hair timeline with 2013 being my favorite;)Funny the way you discovered this board but hey, whatever works getting the word out.Even if you are at terminal length there is nothing wrong with what you achieved my friend:)Please stick around and chime in anytime.Cheers

Hi Michael,
Welcome to the board! You have wonderful looking hair and I am glad you found this board! I must say you have a cool sister to insist that you have long hair! Nice to see you don't have to worry about the corporate world and short hair anymore!
I sure hope you haven't reached terminal length yet. It would be cool to see your hair even longer man! I am truly inspired by your length and can't wait to get there. Is all of your hair in front of your shoulders in the 2013 pic? Thanks for posting!
Ted
It is some of my hair in front of my shoulders. Some is still in back. I don't like the way it looks if it's all in front. I took a look in a 2 mirror deal and the bi-section just looked odd to me. So I tend to leave some still in the back if its not all swept back.
I still work in the corporate world, and have only noticed that for a job interview, it is best to tie it back nice and neat. But once on the job I let it fly. I've had my current one for 3 years now and although I have not met all 90,000 people who work at this company, there is only one other longhair in my sphere of work. And his is longer than mine! :-)
This is Microsoft so I see a fair amount of ponytails of various lengths here.
Well, I can tell you that I do love the way your hair looks down! I can't wait to get to that length! I just want to get to where I can have all the hair sit behind my shoulders without coming forward all the time. I do not want to have a ponytail much at all. Not my favorite style.
Thanks for the info on the job situation. I am not currently working due to a disability. But hopefully in the future I can get into IT. Nice to know ponytails might be tolerated.
Ted
Hi Michael!
I am glad you found us, and thanks for posting your cool pictures!
They are very inspiring... I am glad you are allowed to have long hair at work....
....(instead of being a clone!)
The Spaf Man
Hello all.
Below is a link to the article he refers too............
The site thi poster refers to.........
Ahhh yes, the old mlhh logo from yesteryear:)How I remember that time and the ole mlhh gift shoppee! Still using my official mlhh jewelry box.Cheers
Mârk
Man, I didn't know the MLHH had a gift shoppe! That is just too cool Mark! The jewelry box is awesome! What else was in the gift shoppe?
Ted
---------------------
Hi Ted,
Yes we had the gift shoppee for just a short period of time back around 2006/ 2007 as there was a clickable link for it at the top of the board along with the other links. I bought that jewelry box, a beer stein, and a logoed T shirt. There was other stuff too but that's what I bought at the time. From what I recall Justin was instrumental in getting it set up.I still have the shipping receipt so I even now when I bought my stuff and what I paid for it.lol

Remember Luckskind? He had a fabulous mane but has been absent for a long time. He was also a gifted artist and contributed to the designs of the products if I remember correctly. Here is Justin doing some modeling!
and Luckskind, if you're reading this, stop by and say hi!
MLHH clothing modeled by Justin
Hi Jason,
Oh yes how could I have forgotten about Luckskind.Wow its been so long sometimes you forget but cool that you put up this interesting post by Justin. Here is my beer stein that I also got from the gift shoppee":)Ah yes those were the days........Cheers

Hi Mark,
It can be a trip to go through the archives and see names of posters long gone. You wonder how theyre doing and if they still have long hair. Its been nice lately to have some old alumni check in. Hopefully its a trend that will continue.
Jason

A hearty welcome, Michael. Your mane looks great. You have good length and it may be possible to get greater length with nutritional supplements.
Scott
Welcome aboard Micheal.
You've definitely got your "membership card" well established and it looks great!

Link to page, if anyone's interested
Your hair looks absolutely amazing there.
Welcome to the board! Normalcy is overrated, and maybe we're a round peg that doesn't fit into a square hole, or a square peg that doesn't fit into a round hole.
We don't bite =P
Hey Michael Teige,
Welcome to the MLHH tribe!
You're mane looks awesome. I hope that it will continue to grow. Try taking a biotin supplement.
Welcome, bro!
Raymond
Welcome aboard, Michael! Lovely hair you've got there, man! :)
Would love to get a link to that article you mention. I wonder just what does it read ;)
Nevermind, I saw the link LHIA posted!
Not too bad, actually! I almost expected them to be even meaner! Hehe...
Raul I agree. It is good satire in that it manages to poke fun without getting mean.
Chris
Awesome mane, mate ( although I may be a bit biased)!
I've seen that article too. Personally, I found it to be both funny and true. I mean if you really take a step back and look at us... we're pretty damn weird. It all depends on whether or not you put a bad connotation on weird. I don't andI don't think that Wolinsky was either. Cracked is there for hyperbole and making fun of everything. I can have a laugh at myself sometimes.
Anyways, welcome aboard!
Damn straight and we wouldn't want it any other way!
Do you have the link to that article?
I'd like to take a look at it and laugh at my self a little bit haha
And yes sir, we are weird. And I am proud of not being just like everybody else, like if we were soldiers :D :D :D
Indeed! I have a T-shirt that says "Normal People Scare Me".
Only once did someone say anything about it. A checker at Fred Meyers saw it and said "I'm normal!". I looked at her blankly and said "Then I am scared of you." Then we both started to laugh :-)
Thanks for the warm welcome!
Hi Michael,
Welcome - you've got a great head of hair there!
Chris
Welcome Michael,
Your hair looks great. You have a smart sister with very good taste!
peace,
jonalbear
No matter what you do, not everyone will like you. I learned long ago to be myself, and far more people will love you than not. If you google your name, and you find something negative, just take pride in the flood of positive stuff about you in almost all of the other links that drowns out the negative. Among the crowd that care enough about you to post, you realize then that they, not you are in the minority and are thus the ones who are weird.
Bill
Welcome to the board.
Just like Bill said, people will always find something to criticize you for: whether you are rich, poor, thin, fat, longhaired, bald . I mean, at the end of the day what matters is that you do whatever you feel in your heart.
Great hair by the way. Are you planning on growing it longer ?
Thx! I will let it grow as far as it will go. The suggestions for supplements I will certainly consider. GNC has something called Ultra Nourish-Hair that got a lot of good reviews, so I will probably get someone those when I wander into a GNC next.
Welcome Michael! I'm glad you found the board, it sounds like you've experienced a pretty big variety of lengths over your life! Looking forward to future updates.
