http://phys.org/news/2013-12-universe-emerge-remarkably-simple-scientists.html The link is for an article about a "new" theory on how the universe was created which is way over my head. If you ever needed to point to long haired man as an example of someone to be a role model, look here for inspiration.
Cool... thanx so much for posting!
The nice thing about higher ed is that we don't care what your fashion tastes are, just how well you do your work and how easy you are to get along with. I've had long hair all my academic career, from butt-length to my current bob, with no problems.
For more, I direct you to the link below. Scroll within that page for links to the gallery. (very 1990s-style web site.)
The Luxuriant Flowing Hair Club for Scientists (LFHCfS). For scientists who have, or believe they have, luxuriant flowing hair
So they're all conjoined triplets? They have to be conjoined triplets to join?
It's just their way of saying,
"Members of each club are accorded full honorary privileges of the other."
Haha! Yup, and they have to be conjoined by their hair. That's what makes the club so unique! :)

I thought of that website when I saw this thread, several MLHH members are in that club. Link below this post is to David North's profile, that I nominated him for.
MLHH founder Victor Engel cab be found here; http://www.improbable.com/projects/hair/hair-club002.html about a ⅓ way down the page (It's alphabetical). He was one of the early members.
Perhaps this might inspire some of the newer members who are scientist to join.
And here's a link to a famous member; http://www.improbable.com/2007/11/19/hair-club-member-makes-good/
I don't have a way to make all the links clickable, so copy & paste.
David H. North joins LFHCfS
Another brilliant longhair here.
Ed Grochowski used to be occasionally active on the MLHH.

Ed Grochowski: Energy per Instruction
OMG, listening to him I feel like a 4th grader... No, make that a 3rd grader. People this brilliant make me disbelieve that English is my native language.
I missed my opportunity to meet Ed in-person a few years ago when there was a MLHH Longhair Meet-up down at Duarte's Tavern & Restaurant in the coastal town of Pescadero, CA. I had a scheduling conflict that day; but maybe it's just as well I couldn't make it -- I probably would have forgotten how to feed myself by aiming for my own mouth, let alone remember any of my table manners. And as far as being able to hold an intelligent conversation, at times like that I only know how to babble like an idiot -- or worse: to save face, I'm good at inventing my own language and sounding like a foreigner from some distant country nobody's ever heard of before.
Thanks for sharing this, Oren! And now to go back to my personal private rocket science lab of constructing my own "high-tech" paper airplanes (LOL)....

Yup, guys like these are MY inspiration - more than many rock singers, film stars, sports people and other celebrities.
Long hair AND brains - awesome combination!

This is very cool! Society can be so ignorant when it comes to its perception of long haired men.
We must not forget about our own brilliant long haired man Mr. Oren Leavitt! Simply click on his avatar pic for some awesome hair progress photos and cool projects he has designed! I just had to do it Oren! I love checking that stuff out man! Long hair forever guys!
