Hey guys! I'm a little late as usual, so I'd say I'm probably in between 15 and 16 months...but today I finally hit a milestone in being able to pull all my hair back into a tail!
I was thinking last night, its been almost 16 months I should be able to pull my hair back, early trim or no early trim! I gave it a shot and was surprised it did stay put! It definitely looks different, but I'm happy to at least have the option, especially when I'm doing something active.
I normally take pictures the day I wash my hair, but this time I did it on a wash day before the wash. This is about as greasy as my hair looks the day I wash it again (I washed on Wednesday morning). My wife thinks its took greasy looking and I should wash it the day before, what do you think? If you follow the link the pic will supersize...
I'm getting closer to my original length of shoulder length all the way around. The "bangs" are about a 1/4 - 1/2 past my chin now...but I think I'm probably still 7-10 months away from hitting that goal. The back and sides are easily on the shoulders now. I have to say, after reaching this length, I'm thinking I will definitely go for more. I'm not a fan of the curl up/swoop my hairs doing because of the shoulder resting. I think I'm going to re-evaluate once it gets long enough to fall straight.

Woops, I meant to say, getting close to my original GOAL length...
Hi Tommy, congratulations on making a full ponytail! That is a huge milestone and like you said gives you another option to wear your hair :) I tend to wash my hair every other day as it tends to grease up also and looks really flat by the third day if I let it go that long.Everyone is different but I do like how my hair looks the day and day after a wash.Great pics BTW as updates are always cool to see my friend.Cheers and keep it growin' :)

Thanks Mark! I'm still trying to decide how much grease/oil is acceptable without looking dirty. My own opinion changes from day to day haha, but I'm figuring it out!

Your hair looks really good in a ponytail. And you should definitely go longer than the shoulders! You have great hair.
You look great, Tommy. I agree with Mark and Lucian - keep going strong. You've got great hair - I wash my hair every day except on Saturday and, believe me, I look like a greaseball today... When I went out today, I wore a hat - that's the only way I can get away with not washing it today...
You continue to inspire me to keep going, although you have a lot nicer look than I've got - actually, today my patience was shaky and I thought about cutting my hair - enough is enough - that kind of thinking - but I just signed on here and saw your pics - and I am re-inspired to keep going until spring, at least. Gotta get it long enough to pull back in a tail that holds all the loose strands in place... Congratulations on reaching that goal!
Thanks a bunch Fitz! I'm glad I could help you out!
-Tommy
Congratulations you are well ahed of me.
Maybe its the lighting but your hair looks pretty goot to me, the greasiness is still bearable I think.

Hi Tommy,
Wow! What a spectacular update my friend! I always love your updates! You really have a great looking tail there man! Making wonderful progress I say! I don't think it looks too greasy. I think we have in our minds what it should look and feel like. When our hair was shorter it didn't gather the oils the same way.
I sure hope you grow it some more! I believe your hair will only get better with more length! Don't worry, you will look back and see how your hair is not curling up at the ends anymore. Thanks a bunch for the awesome update my friend! Onward and downward! Please be weel!
Ted
Thanks Ted! I agree, I think the longer it gets the more all these little things I nitpick on will resolve themselves!

Greasy or not greasy you already know I'm a big fan of your hair haha.
The good thing about having greasy hair is that your hair will never dry out and will always be healthy. The bad thing is you have to wash it too often.
Please, keep on growing . You have some great hair to grow.
Thanks Dave! I will definitely keep growing!

Hair is looking great. Keep going.
Excellent progress, Tommy. It looks fantastic. It's great that you are now able to pull all of your hair in a pontytail.
Also, I'm glad you want to go further. With your hair, it will only look better with each cm.

Hey thanks a lot for the compliment! I'm determined to catch up to those of you who are further along than myself :)

Tommy, bro.. that hair of yours looks absolutely kickass and awesome in a way only some manly man's mane can look! I am really both jealous and extremely happy for you for having gone this far, and having such fantastic results to show for yourself... AWESOME hair!
Now I want you to take that awesome hair of yours... and.. are you ready?!
DOUBLE IT in length! :D
Thanks bro! Doubling would probably put it down around my shoulder blades/armpits I'm thinking... not sure if I want to go that long or not. Only time will tell!
-Tommy
Hey Tommy! Congrats on your ponytail... your hair is looking great! It didn't look greasy to me, and I am still working out my wash schedule! (I settled on every other day, right now.)
Take Care and keep growin!

Thanks! I think i'm going to stick with every 3 days for now, but I'm going to try some new products and see waht happens. This weekend I shampooed but didn't condition, instead I put some coconut oil in after it dried a little bit. The result was a very different feel and look the past couple of days. It wasn't quite as "fluffy" and airy, but it was really shiny and it "felt greasy" although really it was just a different feel than clean poofy hair. I may try it again!

Hi Tommy,
What I see in the pictures with your hair loose is that it "parts" into small sections that hang together. Some like this look, and in fact it's what a lot of guys (shorter-haired, that is) use gel to achieve when it doesn't happen naturally. Some like it, some don't and would rather have the hair looking "smooth". For what it's worth I think your hair looks good as it is.
Definitely nice to have the ponytail option.
Thanks for the update.
Chris
That is a very good description...I hadn't thought it that way.
