Given a picture of me in may, and a picture of me taken two weeks back, does it look like I have gained weight?
It's hard to say, because one picture shows your entire figure, while the other does not. Without seeing your whole body, the photo of your face makes one seek to extrapolate a body to go with the face they see. Meanwhile, with the other picture, that doesn't occur because your whole body can be seen.

I suspect that might be the case but the images are difficult to compare even when under each other.
....does your scale say???
I can't use my scale because I also managed to gain about 1-2 cm of height.
Ok I have to ask, why can't you use a scale?
I don't know if you've gained weight, but you certainly have gained some really nice looking longer hair.
Hmmm, maybe any extra weight is due to the extra longer hair? ;)
Hair is looking great BTW. Cheers

When I wear my hair in a ponytail...I think my face looks thinner because my hair is not framing my face...
It actually works backwards. In general, when having your hair down your face looks thinner because your hair frames it.
Havent you ever heard people saying that having long hair makes you look thinner? Thats because long hair framing your face creates that effect.
Having more hair makes your head look bigger, because your hair is seen as part of your head. This makes your body look smaller in comparison.
Shaping your hair and beard can affect how your face, head, and neck areas are sensed. You can correct for an unusually shaped head, a long neck, a large or small chin, protruding ears, etc., by growing enough hair that you have something to work with in the trimming endeavor. You shape, of course, to make your combined head and hair mass to yield a more average-looking shape.

It actually depends on your hair type.
If you have straight here, it will make your face look thinner (If you have a round face, the vertical fall of the hair will make your face look slimmer) . If you have curly or wavy hair, it will make your head look bigger, and probably your face will not look that slim.

This is similar to the wisdom that vertical stripes on clothing make you look thinner and horizontal stripes have the opposite effect.
Straight hair not only is thinner because it all lies tighter to the head and that makes the breadth of your head to be less, but the above bit about verticalness of the grain also comes into play to make your head seem thinner.

I can't be sure, but your hair looks great much longer!
(so keep growin!)

It's hard to tell for certain, but based on the two pictures provided, your face does appear to be slightly heavier now, compared to your appearance in May.

Hi Matt,
I think possibly you have gained a little weight. However, you and your hair are looking just fine!
