Some people - even some long hair enthusiasts - think ankle length hair, especially on a guy, is too much. I, however, think that as long as your hair is growing, let it grow, no matter how long it gets. Off hand, I can think of several guys with beautiful ankle length hair: Hairfreaky, Danny Cecati, and Damian Marley. Here's an Israeli backpacker with ankle length dreadlocks shopping at a store in Chabad Thailand a few years ago. The photo's a bit fuzzy, but his long hair shines through in all its glory.
Ankle length dreadlocks
Pretty cool to see. If I understand dreadlocks correctly, they are easier to grow to extremely long lengths because the shed hairs remain part of the locks, thus in theory there's no terminal length.
As for ankle-length hair in general, I remember one of the really long-hair guys on youtube commenting that when his hair got longer than butt-length, the task of managing and protecting his hair (like keeping it from catching in closing doors) got to be burdensome. So there's that.
Thanks for the link.

I love the pic. - my 1st. thought was 'wow - that must be 'pulling' - the reality of long hair, is it tugs at your scalp hair follicles: ( for some causing 'traction alopecia' - especially for those choosing to dread-lock ) ... make no mistake, long hair can be burdensome, many times I've gone 'aaarrrhhhhh' - but we weight-up the pro's & con's: ( like ALL things in life ) ... I'm 'gunnin' for 'past-da-butt' but may re-evaluate to go to 'back-of-knee' if my terminal length & my patience prevail ... cheers CEM.

To handle the ankle-length "burden" one could braid it and bun it at the nape of the neck. That's what extreme-long-haired women have done for centuries!
BTW, I'd like to know what research is being done to get around the genetics of determining terminal length. For those who want longer locks than nature normally allows, and in addition to a proper diet and hair care, it would be nice to be able to apply a substance to the scalp to grow hair as long as one wished.
... we ALL gain & lose: ( due to our genetic-coding ) whether it be hair, health, talent, intelligence, physical attractiveness, common-sense & prowess to navigate life, etc, etc... so it's really about acceptance & making the best of what God has bestowed upon us - maximising our strengths & minimising our weaknesses ...
That's impressive! Thanks for posting! -The Spaf Man
