I wish I had let it grow years ago. I would have been able to enjoy many more years of being a longhair! I'm undecided about what to do with the beard however. Trim it or let it continue to grow. Cutting it off is not an option however. All you younger guys out there, don't do what I did an wait till you're almost 60 and let it grow. Do it now and have many years to enjoy it.
Looking good Mike!
I am growing my beard also, sometimes it gets too big at the sides and needs trimming...
Take Care and keep growin!

Amen, Mike, I can fully relate to what you just said above!!
I feel similarly re. my own beard (which currently is getting long as a goatee & mustache combo; but I keep it short or even sometimes shaved at the sides) -- yet shaving the beard completely off is never a consideration (the last time that occurred was when I was still in my early 20s and because a job I had at the time insisted I be clean-shaven... 2 years later when I quit that job, I immediately grew my beard back, and it has remained so ever since)!
I also agree 100% with your advise to our younger guys here: grow your hair NOW, don't wait (I didn't achieve ponytail length myself until my 40th birthday, for example)... I love my long hair, too, my only regret in life being that I wish I had grown it out sooner!
Take care, and thanks again for sharing your nice post with us!

Hi Mike,
I am one of those younger guys and I will definitely let it grow and enjoy it, it's great to hear you're happy with your hair.
I am growing out my beard also, I realized I am unable to shave it off, maybe you could try to trim the sides for more neatness.
Take care and keep growing.

You ought to do whatever makes you happiest, regardless of what anyone says. You have my support :)

Exactly, no one has the right to complain about appearance except yourself.

Hi Mike,
I like your hair too! I really like the color and straightness! I am not sure about what to do with your beard. But I think it suits you well! However, you still have many years to enjoy that beautiful hair I believe!
I had long hair when I was younger. Then I joined the Air Force and had short hair for many years. Now here I am at 47 trying to grow it out again! I must say I am having a lot of fun seeing what it will look like! I will say that my hair seems to have thinned out some though.
Thanks for the update and I hope you let your hair keep growing and flowing my friend!

The beard does come in quite handy at Christmas time. Last December I had on a Santa hat and several kids pointed and said to their parents "Theres Santa" It was quit a lot of fun.
Mike - I am glad to read how happy you are with your hair... It looks great to me, too. I think I've told you before that we have similar hair situations. I have continued to struggle with how I think I look. I just said to my wife that I think I need to face facts - the top of my head = the hair seems to be thin and doesn't look that great (in my opinion) I have the goal of growing it without cutting 18 months - I am on 14 months now - She encouraged me to keep going - she said this is the place people give up instead of giving it a chance... She knows if I cut it now I'll always wonder... I wish I was as positive about my look as you are...
You know there is an advantage to growing long hair at our age with our receding hairline! We don't have our long locks falling in our face and eyes, simply because we don't have much hair up there. Haha
Looks awesome. I'm 39 and decided to finally grow it out again (longer then my past attempts) and plan to have it for many years.
