Hello out there,
it has been nearly a month since I appeared and my hair is a bit longer now and I would appreciate to hear (...or rather read) your honest oppinion about my ..uhm.. "decentralized centre part" ;)
So here is the photo with the old one on the bottom left and some sort of a funny(bad)-hair-day on the bottom right.
You are obviously doing very well. Your hair is definitely in the "awkward stage" as mine is beginning to become. Don't hesitate to use hair spray and oil to keep it under control.
When I used to "buzz" cut my hair, I had no parting at all. When it grew from very short to short, my left parting would return and seem to be the most natural way for me. It is still on the left at present. I might adopt a centre parting later. On the other hand, asymmetry is quite charming.
I know a (female) long-haired music teacher and she has a side parting (usual "girl's side" to the right). She makes a beautiful bun with her hands in just a few seconds and holds it all in place just by shoving a pencil through it at just the right place. She always winds it in the direction of the hair to the left of her right-side parting. That might be more limiting with a central parting.
You might be interested in "fancy" buns for certain occasions as an alternative to free hair of the ponytail. Perhaps...
When you and I get all our hair to ponytail length, we will be able to style our hair with a parting anywhere we want or pull it back from the forehead with no parting. You will need to see what is best for your hair, which is much more wavy than mine.
I have the impression that even when you get to ponytail length, you should not pull it back too tightly, because you have some lovely waves on the top of you head, where mine is simply straight.
You need to experiment with different styles as you hair grows, and I look forward to seeing more photos as time goes by.

I was on the jurne a couple of ears ago and I made everthing wrong (gel, hot iron, hair spry etc.), but now I am read to be a longhair. Now I observe all the interesting things my hair does sometimes.

A perfect symetric centrepart has to be forced because of my widow's peak.

From my point of view there is nothing wrong to have a different hairdo for different occasions as a guy.
Who is that all knowing person who defines that whole "guy's style/girl's style" sort of things?!

I look forward to the day when I can call myself a longhair, parting my hair where ever I want and beeing able to see my natural hair texture.

Thank your for your kind words and I look forward to your uptates as well and I realy like gray hair (it looks good and is interesting from the scientific point of view too).
Good luck with your "awkward-stage" time.

Christian,
I thank you too for your kind words. Having loose awkward hair is a new experience. For partings, you like I will just have to experiment as the hair grows.
I look forward to being able to have fun doing buns and hairdos for occasions, like evenings with friends. As you say, theres no reason why they should be reserved to women. There are some very simple styles one can do oneself and not so simple ones. It seems to involve beginning with a high ponytail and twisting it around and using pins to hold it in place. Of course, we would be breaking social conventions and have to be ready for the criticism. It takes character like having the long hair, but even more of a provocation. I imagine that most of the time outside my house, I would wear it in a low ponytail to be discreet. One can't push or shock people too much. It all depends on the circumstances. I am lucky to be self-employed and work at home, so I dont have pressure from an employer to have short hair.
Grey hair? Mine is natural and I prefer to keep it that way. I began to be quite grey when I was about 37, and both my parents went grey in their 40s. I am now 54 years old. There are men on this board who are older than I am, and have very good long grey hair. It is an encouragement that we are never too old to make the journey.
My next update will be due in a couple of weeks. We do need to see a bit of difference each time!

I will definitely having some fun with provocation, a guy with a very conservative suit, a classic pocket watch, driving my vintage car and having a "girly" hairstyle.
Also social conventions change from time to time and it starts with some crazy provocative people who wil biconsidered naormal a cople of decades later. Now it is long hair on guys but what could it be tomorrow, I don't know but i look forward to it.
In adition uncolored hair isn't "unhealthy" like some people use to believe.

Lookin' good! Keep it up!
~ Much support, Anna
That's look good - the slightly off set part suits you presently as you go through the awkward stage. Let it follow this and over time try to move it to a position that suits you.
Thank you. Currently I play around with partings but the sidepart doesn't last its too thick to give in to gravity at that length.
Hello Christian -
Your hair looks great combed and parted this way. By the way, your hair does not look awkward at all - it is laying very nicely. You've got some nice wave to it and it really suites you very nicely... I hope you are feeling confident in your new look. It takes a lot of patience to get it real long, but you are looking excellent now - so go with what you got and enjoy.
Fitz
Thank you Fitz, I'm flattered.
My hair looks very neat freshly washed but a day avter the waves are stronger and I need to include it to my thoughts to find a proper style but I realy want to have long hair and mine can be unruly so it taught me to embrace a situation I can't change.
Also it's soothing counterpart to the sometimes hectic sometimes boring and sometimes paradox life because it grows constantly never faster and never slower.

I think your off center part suits you well. A side part would likely keep falling in your face. I keep a side part only because I am thin on top and gravity isn't a big issue. Wind is not my friend however.
Thank you Mike.
The one and only thing which changes my hairstyle is greasiness it does interesting and funny things all the time but the wind is no issue. All in all everyones hair has it's own individual special weakness whitch mekes it more interesting.
Thin or not, keep it growing.

Looks good to me, although I've never been a fan of non-center parts. Also, progress is somewhat visible. Keep it growing!

Thanks. Yeah its hard to see progress because of the waves but a can feel it, on the first photo I posted here my bangs were at the tip of my nose but now ..uhm.. let's say ... I know how my hair tastes.

Hey ChristianN,
Thanks for the update.
The pics of your current hair length are not that clear. I can not see exactly how long your hair is. However, from what I can see it looks like your long hair is agreeing with you. I think that your long hair frames your face nicely and the natural look of just letting your hair fall as it will, in other words not parting it is much more becoming.
I whole heartedly suggest that you continue to grow your hair to terminal length.
Your long haired bro,
Raymond
Thanks Raymond, next time I'll strech my hair a bit to show the actual length, but let me say it touches my mouth.
Indeed I am determined to get to know my terminal length.
-Christian
Hey Christian,
Your hair is looking just fine, keep it growing and enjoy it!
All the best - The Spaf Man
Thanks, it is a great feeling to recognize my hair as a living organizm.
-Christian
As I start grow my hair out, I varied the part, side to center, back to side. When your hair gets long enough you may find your center again.
Coming along nicely!
Bruce
Thanks, if I go back to the centre I need to figure out what to doo with the widow's peak it's strange somehow.
-Christian
Hi Xris - love the part ! = ur hair is looking terrific !!!
Thanks, you're much too kind.
-Christian
Hi Christian,
I must say your hair is growing very nice! The part looks great here, but you may change it over time. I know I went from the side to the off-center part as my hair grew longer. Your hair will only look better and better with more time and length! Please keep it growing and updating us!
Ted
Thanks Ted, we are our own biggest critics so I am allways skeptical when it comes to my look.
It becomes quite difficult to find the right part as my hair gets longer.
There are so many possibilities to style long hair but I prefere to be spoilt for choice then to choose between spyking short hair or not.
