Last night I saw my adult niece for the first time in a very long time... she finally made a comment about my hair - she said, "so what are you doing - growing a donation for locks of love?" I lightheartedly said - nope - won't cut my hair for them... my wife said "he's growing his hair out to the middle of his back..." I was surprised to hear my wife say this, as we have not talked about this and I knew my wife "tolerates" this thing I am doing - she does not prefer my hair like this... but, such is life in the fast lane of this 57 year old guy who is doing what he wants to do for the first time in his entire life... What do you think of that?
At 14 months now...

Thats great and an affirmation that progress is being made. It sounds to me like your niece was making a neutral comment and more of an observation than a judgment. It seems that your wife has at least come to terms with what youre doing for her to say that youre going for that length which is much longer than what it takes to be a longhair.
Knowing what you want and then taking the necessary steps to attain it is a projection of confidence. That confidence engenders respect from others even if they dont fully agree with your course of action.
Enjoy all the steps and stages on the journey to becoming a longhair!
thank you, Jason - your response was encouraging.
Hooray! My wife is also only mildly accepting of my long hair thing but has groan(sic) tolerant of my crazy ideas.
May your long hair grow on you and her!
Bruce
By the looks of your avatar photo, you've got some nice hair length for yourself... I would imagine that there are a lot of guys in our shoes - whose wives wonder what they got themselves in when they said "yes" - of course, we never, ever wonder the same thing on the reverse.
Good for you Fitz!
It's about time we get to do something for ourselves...
.....Keep it Growing! - The Spaf Man
Thanks, Spaf! yes, indeed!
Mazel tov, Fitz...you should only enjoy looking at yourself in the mirror and feeling the caress of your growing locks on your neck, collar...
Don
I am enjoying that feeling, Don - thanks!
I'm not much younger than you, and I was buzz cutting until last summer / autumn.
Women seem to want to order their husbands around, but they respect a man who shows character. I have set out on the same journey after years of short hair, either because it was expected by others or because I thought that was how I should be.
Women fought long enough for emancipation, and now it is our turn! ;)

My blogI totally agree with the emanication proclamation - OUR turn! How much has changed since our fathers were young men - from the late 50s - early 60s till today... yet, somehow, even though that wasn't that long ago - we've come a long way and ought now to work on equality.
Seems she noticed how much it means to you propably things are becomming easier from now on, however a great surprise.
Whishing you all the best.

Yes, Christian - I think it is finally setting in with her. This is lasting a lot longer than just missing a hair cut or two.
Hi Fitz,
Well, I can tell you that I am just tickled pink that you are finally growing your hair out! You absolutely deserve to do this and to enjoy each and every step of the way my friend! I am glad your wife is tolerant of this! I am looking more forward to seeing your mid-back hair than I am my own! Go forth and conquer my friend! But please do not waste your hair on Locks of Love! Looking forward to your next pic update!
