I thought you might find this fun. My wife has more and more laughs as I get out of bed!
This one is of my hair all messed up with my hands for the photo.
Does anyone else dare show a messy hair photo? Especially those of you who are still in the "awkward stage" or having a specially bad bad-hair day.
Just until I can start doing elegant hairdos...
Anthony
My blogPersonally I don't have any "bad hair days," for me a bad hair
day would be if I woke up in the morning and found I had a buzz cut
or crew cut.
But now that my hair is long I don't really have "bad hair days."
Besides there is a simple solution for avoieding "bad hair days" when your hair is long, i.e. tie the hair into a pony tail, braid it, pig tail it, bun it.
This is what I look forward to being able to do, either to be well turned out for social purposes, or to keep my hair out of my face while cycling or sailing, or for safety when operating machines or when near fire.
I have learned that there are ways like using head bands for these special needs. For the rest of the time, I just relax with it.

My blogCongratulations... you're in the beginning stages of getting some discernible hair length! The wildness suits you well :)
In my opinion, the best way to get through the so-called "awkward stage" is by remembering what I call the 4 C's: be Confident, and keep your hair Clean, Conditioned, and Combed (or brushed), and let it do its own thing. I think the biggest mistake men can make when growing out their hair (other than the dreaded "maintenance trim") is to overuse styling products in an attempt to keep every single strand neatly in place. Why suffer through the journey to achieving long hair, all the while attempting to simulate the "neatness" of short hair by gluing it down, rather than experiencing the joy of all the various lengths as they occur? By letting one's hair reveal its true character and "personality" throughout the entire journey, one might find oneself revealing and enjoying more of one's own as well, to a degree that wasn't possible when one was regularly cutting it off in order to fit into the dominant societal mold. If you look confident (and you do!), your hair will look cool.
You're off to a great start... keep us posted!
Cheers,
Val
Many thanks, Val.
Wildness? I think you saw my "never weather beaten hair" as I was out in my boat last week!
I am quite anti-conformist by nature and I tend to see my relationship with society almost as a kind of Scarlet Pimpernel, weaving in and out and keeping people confused. I agree with you about proper care (which I do) and living with it each day.
Once I do get it to ponytail length, I anticipate tying it up tight to be in conservative / conformist company. Most of the time, I just groom reasonably with comb or hands. I am not often in the company of intolerant people, and I think I have enough character to say something witty.
This journey is really a fascinating one. I'm enjoying it!
Anthony
My blogI'm glad you are enjoying it, you have good hair and are doing just fine... The ponytail, (though mine is thin,) works well on the job and keeps the hair out of my way....
Take Care and have fun on your boat.....

That's really great! The best way to long hair is to not be all up-tight about it. Just kinda "go with the flow." Long hair should be a fun experience and not something to fret about. I'ed post a photo of myself but right now some uploading problems. (Decided to go longer/long again after having had a blast for the last 4 years with all kinds of short-medium long hairstyles.
Keep it growing and keep laughing! :-)
All the best-
Justin~
Justin,
Thanks for the kind words. Going by your photos, you seem to like some of the composers I like, such as Debussy and Max Reger. You like the sea and those lovely wooden houses you have over there Stateside.
Indeed, we need to live for each day. Hair-farming is for people who have things to do in life and have a positive outlook. Respectability seems to be low in my priority list of values. That must be something coming from an Englishman!
Good luck with your long hair. I'll just repeat the advice others have given me. Keep the scissors away from it! Don't even trim whilst you're in the awkward stage.
Anthony
My blogSo glad to hear you're returning to long(er)-hairdom, Justin. I've enjoyed reading about the fun you have been having over the past few years following the "big cut," but it will be great to see you back in long locks again. I trust you'll keep us posted :)
Cheers,
Val

Hi Val
Well, hardly a legend but coming from you I'll glady accept this great honor. And so here is posted a true to life pic at where I am right now. ("Bedhead" style phases me not.) Well, we will see in a couple of months just how much this fossile is able to go. LOL :-)
Wishing you and your wonderful family all the best! :-)
Justin~
Some have short memories :-)
Some have short memories,
and some have memories long-
But to have a case of Poison Ivy
would stop any singer in song.
And so it was with me,
(last Summer to be exact)-
got brushed by the likes of such
and hence, what an "Itching Attack!" LOL
J~
Hi Anthony,
You still look great even with messy hair! I will have to see if I have any messy hair photos. I don't think I do though!
