Oh, yes. I want to ask you. Is long hair common in the field of science in the USA?
I know, that here in Europe this is not an issue.
An year ago I asked some my freinds a question about long hair in Germany. They live and work there.
The answer was, that the most important is your qualification and skills at work. :)

One of the nice things for those of us who are scientists (I am an astronomer), is that in science and academe you are valued for what you do and contribute, not shunned for your fashion. It is a nice, generally very liberal, environment!
