Hey all,
I feel like I am going bald up top. The hair on the front, above my forehead, is really thin. When I had shorthair it seemed a lot thicker but maybe it was my imagination? Now, after 1 year and six months of growth I feel like my hairline is receeding pretty fast. I am only 21. My dad doesn't really have a high hairline, but my brother does (step-brother, different father).
Don't get me wrong, I love my long hair and want to keep growing it..it would just be nice if it was a little thicker up top, like it is in the back.
Is there anything I can do to trigger growth in these thin areas, or am I doomed?
Thank you all,
Scott
...everybody knows that cutting your hair will NOT make it stop balding if that is your problem.
You seem kind of young to have thinning hair, but it CAN happen,
I guess.
If you are very concerned (and why wouldn't you be?), go see a doctor to make sure it is not a nutritional deficiency...
Then, if that is ruled out, there are special creams that might
keep the thinning in check. Good luck!
i know there are some medications out there too which have possible 'hair loss' side effects. its only a possibility but could be an explanation if you are on any meds.
Besides hair implants and Rogaine there is probably not too much you can do but learn to live with what your body is going to do. This does not mean that you have to start cutting your hair though. Even if you have just a patch of hair left it will grow and you have every right to grow it despite the opinions that everyone else will undoubtedly give you. Think of it as the same thing that young longhairs face when it comes to others opinions. Don't sweat it.
I just posted a long note on this subject to 'Mohawk' on Aug 5, above.
You are lucky to catch this early. Propecia and minoxidil will probably allow you to keep your hair. Avoid unproven 'snake oil'. There is a lot of crap advertised that only wastes money. Propecia and minoxidil are the only two drugs that have been proven to slow hair loss, and maybe even grow some back.
BTW, hair loss genes can come down on your father's or mother's side of your family.
When I started to thin, there was nothing to try. There will be better drugs in the next few years, too!
