Dear Anthony,
Others here have stated some of the history you recite, but I appreciate your systematic and logical presentation. I also am flattered that I rated specific mention! :-)
I think that it was Bill who first argued convincingly that longhair on men is, for many, a manifestation of a philosophy and far more than a fashion. The more I search my own motivations for taking this journey, the more I realise this is true. The more that I realise that, during the years of my military service, there was an inner longhair waiting to be unleashed.
Anyway, thanks for the blog post and, yes...keep it growing and flowing!
Don
Dear Don,
Many thanks for the kind words. The waters are hardly uncharted, but those of us who have studied theology and philosophy have a slant on the subject of mens long hair that can only contribute to enlightenment.
One point I made in my article and comments is that it would be wrong to belittle those who choose to have short hair, or cannot grow it because of baldness or particularly frizzy types of hair. We longhairs and future longhairs would be wrong to think ourselves as better, but we appreciate the freedom to grow it out when circumstances of life are right and we have the right kind of hair.
To me, it is an awakening as I discover the curls and the movement of hair on the back of my neck. Soon it will be brushing the shoulders and that will be a new sensation. I remember that when I was a little boy, I dreamt of curly hair. All I had to do was to grow it, but that wasnt possible then with the regular haircuts.

My blog
I enjoy your post, Anthony. And the others that show progress on their long hair journey. I have been growing mine for 14 months and will continue with it for a couple more years.
Anthony,
Thank you for helping to spread the historical and sociological truth about why men are overwhelmingly expected/forced to keep their hair shorn. I find your writing style to be eloquent and powerful, and look forward to reading more of it.
Cheers,
Val
Thanks, Val, for the kind words. You are welcome to look at my blog if there's anything that interests you. Look at the sidebar on the right, lower down, to find the cloud of subjects to choose from. It's mostly religious, but I keep an open mind about everything.
