Hello my longhaired friends,
The time has come to have my second diseased kidney removed. It has become ravaged due to my Polycystic kidney disease. I will have no kidneys and must continue to receive dialysis 3 times per week until I get a kidney transplant. This surgery will make my breathing better and generally make me feel better since my other organs are being crowded.
Tommorrow morning at around 7:30 I will undergo the roughly 4 hour procedure. I do request your thoughts and prayers that everything goes smoothly. I have an excellent surgeon and he removed the other kidney wonderfully. Thanks so much and please understand I may not answer all replies right away. Long locks forever!
Ted
i do know that God will be with you
and i say you as usual in france "merde" (popular good luck)
Hi chamane,
First of all, welcome to the board my friend! I thank you so much for your well wishes! I'm sure everything will be just fine! Thanks again and please be well!
Ted
Ted,
I just want to extend my sincere best wishes to you, for a successful surgery and a full, speedy recovery... not to mention a prompt kidney replacement! Take care and come back soon!
Warm regards,
Val
Hi Val,
Thank you so much for your best wishes my friend! I think last time I was in the hospital for about 5 days. However, it took me quite a while to be able to walk well with the 14 inch abdominal incision. But it will be well worth it. I have been dealing with bloating, abdominalpain etc. for too long now.
You can be sure I will be back promptly! And my hair will continue to grow as well! Sometimes the doctors and nurses comment on my longer hair. Thanks again and please be well!
Ted
Consider me on your prayer team... Already shooting up some prayers for you, my friend. You are brave and strong to face this with such a positive outlook. That is a big step to recovery all by itself.
Please keep us informed of your progress... And if a nurse comes at you with a razor don't let her touch your beautiful head.
Good luck.
I'll be praying for you.
Hi LHIA,
Thanks so much for your prayers! I truly appreciate your concern! Please be well my friend!
Ted
Hi Fitz,

Hi Anthony,
Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers! I really appreciate them as I go through this operation! I will be sure to keep you informed of my progress! I will be missing the internet and the board while I'm in the hospital! Please be well my friend!
Ted
Let me echo the sentiments already expressed. Since Ted has stopped responding to each post wishing him well, I'm guessing he's already in surgery. Ted really epitomises the positive and fraternal spirit here on MLHH. He has been an inspiration to me and, I'm sure, to many of you. All success and prayers for a complete healing, Ted!
Don
Hi Don,
Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers! I wasn't sure how much time I would have this morning to reply to you all's messages. It is 4:38 a.m. here now in Texas. I am leaving to go to the hospital shortly.
Your compliments are really heartfelt and I shall try to carry on the spirit! Needless to say, you are an inspiration to me as well! I have full Faith and confidence in the medical personnel at the VA hospital! Please be well my friend!

Ted,
My positive thoughts and prayers for you and a speedy recovery from surgery.
Bruce
Ted, I'm not on the board nearly as often as I used to be for one reason or another. I just finished reading your post about your surgery a few minutes ago. Today is the 20th., so your surgery has probably happened by now. Please be assured that you'll be in my prayers through the coming days and that your healing is in God's hands. See you soon, my friend. Steve.
I am wishing and hoping all the best for you.
Best wishes for a quick recovery and a short wait on the transplant list. Just wait, when you recover your hair will be much longer!!
I don't know about the US, but here in Europe they only shave your head if you're having an operation on the head (eg. brain surgery). Ted would only be required to shave his lower body and have 2 Betadine showers for his scrub-up. They would put his hair into the same kind of net as the surgeons wear. At least that's what I had done when I had my hernia fixed a couple of years ago.
I hope he recovers before his hair is just half an inch longer!
Anthony

My blog
I had knee surgery last year and was on pain meds for about 6 weeks and didn't care much about hair. Walking was my biggest challenge. When I weaned off the pain meds I noticed my hair and beard had grown quite a bit.
Prayers coming your way!
James
Good thoughts and vibes your way Ted!
I hope this post finds you on the mend and feeling better with the "monster" safely extracted from you.
- Oren
I will pray that all goes well. Hopefully you wont have to wait too long for a transplant. Get well soon!
Hi Ted.
Hope this response finds you well. All the best for a HEALTHY recovery....and a short wait for the transplant list. I'm sending your way positive thoughts and prayers.
Get well soon!
A.D.
Hi Ted
Indeed, I am so sorry for what all of this has put you through and pray that all WILL end-up fine and that the Kidney transplant is soon to be found. In the meantime, just look at all of the friends you have here. We all love you Ted and

Hi Teddy - hair is so banal, trite & trivial when the REAL issues & challenges of life 'bear-down-on' us ... you are in my deepest thoughts & I send you prayers of finding a compatible donor, continued care & nurturing from all health professionals & restored health & vitality asap ... no-one deserves it more ... hugs CEM.
Hey Ted, sorry for the delay. Life has been busy for myself as well. I am praying that your surgery went well and that your recovery is proceeding nicely.
