Hello my friends,
I have returned back home after a rough time in the hospital. My surgery was actually done later than scheduled due to blood bank confusion. I had the operation on Thursday afternoon(march 20). It lasted 5 and 1/2 hours. In the process of removing the kidney, my small intestine receive a small tear. So I wasn't able to eat for 3 days. Not fun. I was in the SICU for 3 days in much pain.
I spent about 3 days on the regular floor and received dialysis. The nurses and doctors were wonderful and took awesome care of me. I was discharged yesterday(March 27) in the early evening. For what it's worth, I have a 14 inch incision with 39 staples in it. A little sore, but surprisingly comfortable.
I have read each and every response to my request for prayers below! Wow! I cannot thank you enough for those! Perhaps you can let me get away with responding individually to the ones I didn't answer yet? Please understand I was almost in tears reading through them! You all are nothing but the best! I love you guys!

Hi Ted,
Welcome back, it is so good to see you back again, and thank you for your update on your surgery. I am sorry that you went through a difficult time in the hospital, but I am relieved that you are safe and sound at home and on the mend.
Rest assured that you remain in my thoughts and prayers every day. Also, please don't worry about answering everyone individually, and you know that we understand. The most important thing right now us to take all the time you need just for you.
Take care,
David

Ted, I've been desperately waiting to hear from you - both here and on FB (keep checking your FB page for an update in case I missed it in the newsfeed). I'm horrified to think of what you went through but, to be honest, I'm so glad to hear that you are now home and back in action that I just feel a great sense of relief.
You are an amazingly positive and upbeat person. As David N. said, please don't worry about answering everyone individually. I'm sure everyone understands you need to recuperate. We all just want you to concentrate on building up your strength and getting well again. Hopefully, a transplant will be forthcoming and provide a longterm solution.
Take care ... literally!

Welcome back, Ted!
I've probably said this before, but I really admire your bravery and your good cheer in the face of such adversity. I hope that the next time you go to surgery it's for putting a kidney IN.
Chris
So glad to hear you are home and on the mend, Ted. Prayers answered in the affirmative direction that we all hoped for...

Hey Ted!
Good to know you are back. It sucks that you had to go through this pain, but at least you are well now.
Hi Ted.
I'm so happy you're getting better. It's all these prayers, positive vibes...and most importantly your fantastic attitude towards life that made it all possible.
It's now time to focus on your recovery...to be 100% ready for the transplant when time comes.
Be well.
A.D.
Good to hear you're out of the hospital, stay well!
Welcome back, Ted.
It's wonderful to hear from you so soon. I would not normally wish for you being opened up again very soon, but they'll have to to get your new kidney in! May that happen very soon to get you off the dialysis machine.
Continuing my thoughts, best wishes and prayers,
Anthony

Hi Ted,
I'm sorry there were some complications and your hospital stay was extended. It's no fun being stuck there especially when you're in pain. I'm so happy to hear that you're back home now and on the mend!
Jason
Thank God for answered prayer!
It's good to hear things went well. Take your time healing. You don't want a setback from pushing yourself too much like I did.
Ted,
You've been in my thoughts (I can't say that I pray). I'm so glad to see that you're back. Your positivity and bravery are an inspiration to us all. Take care of yourself and keep growing and posting.
