It was one of those moments when my wife looked at my hair and grabbed a bunch of it in her hand, without pulling it too much. She said to me that she had never seen so many curls on a man's long hair. I replied that she hadn't looked very hard.
I reassured her that it would look better when longer, and I will certainly be tying it up when appropriate. It didn't seem to dawn on her that I am going on and really growing it. Ponytail, etc? Well, I answered, men have been doing it (on and off) for centuries. That certainly put a different perspective on this.
Just a word to our beginners. I am still an "awkward stager" and I have curls all over the place - but I'm enjoying every moment, especially when I feel my hair in the wind and when it touches the shoulders just below my neck. Awkward stage hair does its own thing. Just keep it clean, conditioned and groomed.
I also wish a happy Easter to those of you who are Christian believers, and I wish everyone every happiness and joy.

Anthony,
You are right, the curls will staighten out with length, due to gravity. Just keep at it and your wife will get used to your new look. She has only known you with short hair and people are generally resistant to changes in appearance, especially if you don't change it up much. See will eventually (hopefully!) see how dedicated you are.

Thank you for the kind words. I like the curls, and I dreamt of having curly hair when I was a child, but I insist on my hair being totally honest and natural. I wouldn't want anything artificial. I agree, the curls will go down as the hair grows, and that will be lovely for me.
Oh, my wife sees that I am determined and will not accept anything artificial any more than cutting or trimming. It escapes her control! Women are used to their hair obeying their wishes. My wife even wondered about stopping dyeing her hair, but is afraid of her grey becoming visible. "But you're a man", she said. Well, it depends on what she wants. I know what I want, and she's getting used to it.
I'm nearly at 7 months at about 3/4 inch per month, so I'll need about the same to "make it", maybe a month or two more than that. Life is great!
