Hello everyone here at the MLHH! :)
It's been a long time since I last posted a serious update here, and I thought it was time for a re-introduction!
Name's Raul, soon to be 31 year old, living in Norway.
As some of you older members here remember, I showed up back in late 2013 after having decided to finalyl re-grow my hair long again. After 10 months of patience, I went ahead and got my hair backcombed and croched, which unfrotunately ended up with my having to shave off all my hair due to scarring tissue damage on the scalp.
That was September 2013.
A bit over 7 months later, and I am back at this journey, more certain than ever that this is something I definitely want to do!
Different between the first round and this round of hair growing, is that I have had 2 main "obstacles" in my way:
1. I started growing my hair in September from a number 0 shaved scalp, so no "extra inches" to start growing from ast first time.
2. I have regularly been trimming the back of my head, where my hair meets my neck, in order to try a new approach to hair growing, tackling the awkward stage and avoiding a mullett (and yes, I know some of you sported or are even still sporting that style, no diss on you guys! Just not me! Hehe).
These two factors have made it so that even now afte as "many" as 7+ months of growing, people can hardly tell I am growing my hair long, as can I see the difference between the two journeis.
Hair on the front of my head (fringe, if you will), has just crossed my eyebrows, when I can remember the same hair having been at nose-tip length after 10 months last time. In other words, this is going to be a slooooow ride.
But I've got nothing but time, eh? So no problem :)
Good to see so many new faces here on the MLHH, as well as some "older" ones which started around the same period I did first time around, and are complete longhairs by now! Good job everybody!
Might not be able to post here daily and comment on each and every single picture and update, but will do my best to become a more active member again, and not focus only on my YT channel, which has actually gathered a bit of a following since last year, and has become a part of a sub-community of guys documenting their hairgrowth on YT as well! :)
Have a good one, my friends! =)
Good to see you back, Raul! Still just as determind as ever.
While it may prolong the awkward stage, it can be a very good trade to avoid the mullet-ish look.
Keep at it, because eventually it will pay off.
Hey Michail! Good to see you again, man! :)
Yeah, true that. I do honestly feel it's a good trade off, with the hair looking and feeling more "shapely" if you will, something that will ease people into the longhair look on me, and also give me a chance to experience a hairstyle I have never really had... all one length hair, even at medium length!
Nice to hear from you Raul, your hair is looking good, please be patient and you will get there.. I think my hair grows the slowest of anyone.... Thanks for your YT videos also...
Take Care.. The Spaf Man
Raul,
I definitely remember you, but I know you don't remember me! I am a long time lurker and past poster that had recently gotten active again. It's really terrible that you had so many problems with your dreadlock attempt, since I've always liked the look, but I understand your decision. Sometimes all natural is the way to go!
I also understand the frustration of starting from scratch again. When I first grew my hair long, I started with about 3 inches, so it didn't seem so long to get to ponytail length. After I cut it, (regrettfully) I had to start again from less than 1 inch. Even at 16 months my front hairs barely stay behind my ears. So it is taking much longer, but I am so determined this time that I won't let it get to me.
If I remember correctly you are a school teacher of younger kids? How do they react to all of your hairstyle changes? It must be so fun and rewarding to be an educator.
Best of luck and welcome back!
-Dan H.
Hi Dan! Nice to meet you :)
You are correct in your assumption, I do not remember you from last year, but I am always happy to be acquainted with other long hair fanatics :)
Yeah, you said it there, brother.. starting from literally ZERO length hair makes everything seem that much slower, and is something that really puts things in perspective when it comes to hair growth rate.
When I see some vlogs on YT of people wiht shoulder length hair which have been growing it for 7-8 months, I really am feeling it's misleading to the public, since god knows how many inches they actually started with (as was your cast the first time around).
All in all, it brings a nice sense of growth and perspective, both literally and spiritually.
As for me, yeah, I am a preschool teacher, and it's really funny seeing the kids' faces each time I show up with a different hairstyle/color.
They are the most honest creatures in the world, and are wearing their hearts on their sleeves... saying things from the heart, so I have definitely heard much "your hair looks weird/ugly Raul" in my life :D They're awesome!
Hi Raul,
It's great to see you again, and thank you for checking in and letting us know how you are doing. Your hair is progressing very nicely, and with its thickness, you will have an awesome mane in the future. Keep up the good work with the growing, and please try to stop on by more often!
Keep it growing,
David
Hi David!
Will definitely try to do that, and besides taking part in the day to day activity of the forum, I hope my vlog will be welcome here as well :) After all, ya'll are the inspiration for creating it! :)
Looking good, Raul. Yeah, I can understand you wanting to avoid the dreaded mullet - the top grows sooooo much slower than the sides - but I hope you can keep up your patience. As you said, it's going to be a slooooow ride!
Damon
----------------------------------------------
Definitely can and will, Damon! There's absolutely no rush... everyhing has to be earned, and each and every half an inch makes me that much more proud and gives me an ownership feeling of my own hair and body! :)
All in due time!
Hi Raul!
I am glad you have the patience to keep growing your hair out. Please don't give up.
Also, I suggest not to pay that much attention to your hair growth. The more attention you pay, the less progress you notice.
Truer words have never been said, Dave :)
Hey Raul, welcome back and great to see that you're positive about your regrowth journey and have a nice strategy for the growing out process.
It's certainly looking fab and it won't be long before you can just let it all grow.
Thanks for all the help throughout this entire journey, my friend! You can be sure I will be contacting you with urgent messages on facebook some more in the future ;)
Greetings Raul,
Its been awhile but nice to see you stop back in again to let us know how things are going with you.Your hair certainly is making a nice come back from where you were at last September. With patience you'll be getting some nice length soon and I'm sure you'll stick with the game plan of just letting it do its thing:)Hope all is well with you.Cheers

Letting it do it's own thing is the motto, my friend! =)
Thanks!
Great to see you, Raul. Happy growing. It's come a long way!!
Thanks buddy! =)
Really inspiring seeing pictures like the ones you have just posted! Appreciate it!
Hey Raul, welcome back (although it doesn't really seem like you ever left to me:))! I've been loving your video updates on YT, and am looking forward to your progress updates here!
-Tommy
Hey Tommy!
Thanks buddy! You have been keeping up with my YT channel on a monthly basis, and thus know I never really went anywhere :)
Would love to see more pics of your hair as well, since from the of the sneak peeks I took through the board a few months' back, it looked amazing! :)
Good luck - hope things go better for you this time around.
Thanks man, and I will make sure they do! :)
Hi Raul,
Well, I must say you're looking cool as usual! I am so happy to hear you are going to let your wonderful hair grow out! You just have to let it go and do it's thing man! I think it's a good idea to not let the mullet form. But you know the saying, slow but steady wins the race my friend! Your patience will surely be rewarded with a mane to be proud of!
Please keep it growing my friend and I'm happy to hear you're doing well! You look very comfortable in that chair too! I'm checking out the grill in the background. Hehe.
Ted
Thanks a bunch, Teddy! =)
I do hope your health is better, and that you are finding lots of joy in your hair journey and every day life :)
Yeah, that chair is a really comfy one, at my girlfriend's place. Grilling, sunbathing and whathaveyou not... it's an all around awesome atmosphere! =)
Thanks so much for the well wishes my friend! Yes, I am finally getting over the soreness in my abdomen area and can walk farther distances. It seems like my hair is not growing right now. I know it is, I just can't tell!
Nice to see you have a great atmosphere with your girlfriend there! You deserve it my friend! Please keep growing that awesome mane and I look forward to your next update! Please be well!
Ted
It's nice to hear from someone in Europe (I'm in France).
You have a good head of hair, and I think you'll do well with long hair. You seem to have suffered a lot from scalp problems. I have had problems with psoriasis, and sea water did more for me than any number of pills and creams from the dermatologist. When I started growing my hair, I found I had much less dundruff. I still use Head and Shoulders once a month and a gentler shampoo the other weeks.
You have done well in 7 months from a shaved head. I know some guys here trimmed their hair to start the growing at a single length. I admire your patience. I'm letting mine grow naturally, and I'll see how it goes.
I'm also at nearly 7 months from a crew (buzz) cut leaving only half an inch and almost zero at the back and sides. So I'm wallowing in the awkward stage, and enjoying it.
Keep going and you will have back all the hair you had before - and much more. Enjoy the adventure. I love it!

So glad to see your update; looking great. Although, I am still holding out for the dreads to return. Is there any chance?
