Most guys with long hair come to terms with the idea of being mistaken for a girl now and then. I'm sure when you're 7 it's more so, but this young fellow certainly has a supportive mother. This article's an inspiration for any of us.
Mommie Dearest: My Sons Long Hair Gets Him Mistaken For A Girl
That happens to me a few times a year. I just let it slide and
they usually end up apologizing. I just take it as a complement.
I'm also rather slight in stature 5'9", am always wearing cut off shorts, and have hair that is about eight inches above belt length.
At the age of 59 i don't care what others think, i like my hair
long and i'll continue to wear it long until the day I die.
I would also mention, as usual, that around here most of the women have hair that is shorter than mine. If you go into the mall/a local store/offices/etc. you'll find 98% of women have hair that is shorter than mine.
I'm glad this kid likes having long hair and that his mother
is supportive. Even if I got mistaken for a woman more often than several times a year i'd still keep the hair long. Cutting off the hair would be like cutting off an arm or leg.
Fantastic read, thanks for posting this, Gene!
I honestly don't see enough of such good parenting around, and it really has nothing to do with (admittedly awesome) locks. What it does have to do, is with teaching your kid to be an individualist, a non-conformist, and someone who is proud of who they are, and won't let anyone or any peer pressure change that.
Had to repost it on my Facebook! Awesome parenting right there!
