Here's the long hair contest at the 2014 Gathering of Nations Pow Wow in Albuquerque (4/24-4/26). Long hair definitely spoken here.

This is a "contest pow wow" so in addition to the basket of free hair products, there was also a cash prize for the long hair. What a great show of long hair! Many indigenous folks everywhere know what a good thing it is for a variety of reasons.
BTW, for San Francisco Bay Area people, the huge Stanford Pow Wow will happen May 9-11 in Palo Alto. Those are great fun. I go every year and hope you do too. The event is free with free parking (donations requested but not required). As a cultural thing these gatherings were always to be a free gift to and by the community. I love the atmosphere - there are more long hairs to be seen too.
If I still lived in Redwood City I would have to go to that.
