Hi all! I am a few weeks late in actual posting this, as my monthly anniversary is in the middle of each month, however I did actually take these pictures a few weeks ago I just hadn't gotten around to do anything with them.
The first few are on a wash day once my hair dried, completely natural with no products. I also included a shot with the side part a few days in and a tail. I am really hating how "sloppy" my neck hairs look, so at some point I'm going to clean that up. I'm not brave enough to do it myself and I need to take some time to find something trustworthy to do it!
My bangs/front hairs are well past my chin now, I'll be re-evaluating once they reach my shoulders!

Perfect! 19 months and looking that great? Astonishing for sure and thank you for posting this update of the greatest inspiration.
I hear you about the neck hairs. Only speaking for myself, but I never cared for those either and always trimmed them off. Again, just me and what I liked. To my eyes I thought that all looked much better this way when my hair was in a ponytail.
Congratulations Tommy! :-)
Justin~
Thanks justin! I Saw a guy the other day Who had a clean neckline as well as about an inch up at the back of the neck that wa kept s short. It looked great! I'm still contemplating what to do though.
Hi Tommy
Yes exactly. A "clean-looking" neckline. Hard for me to see any crime in that. Those neck hairs of which we speak never really amount to any growth-help to begin with. (Kinda like having some Chest or Back Hair of the neck.) Still, many on this board apparently love this hair and won't cut anything "if" it goes by the name of "hair." Guess we all just do as we would like for ourselves. One great thing about buzzing off this Neck Hair. "If" you don't like the look, it will all re-grow nice and full in its usual unruly way within several months. Hardly like having to wait 3 years for this to happen. LOL
Take care and all the best-
Justin~
Cool Dude! You have hair similar to mine, though I think yours is thicker/fuller. I think it's looking really good on you, do you have an end goal in mind? If you're like me, you'll keep thinking it needs to be just a bit longer. ;-)
As for the neck trimming, you can do it yourself, but you have to be very careful. I tried doing mine while it was up in a bun and ended up loosing a couple inches when my clippers slipped and nicked the end of the tail. :-( Thankfully I had some hair to spare and it was needing the ends trimmed -- I just wasn't wanting to take off quite as much as I ended up needing to.
Anyhow, thanks for the update. It's an inspiration even to me. :-)

Thanks Dale. I do find myself thinking it needs to be a bit longer haha. The goal currently is for my front hair/bangs to get to shoulder length. I'm thinking once I get there I'll trim to back to match...but we'll see!
Well, Tommy - my man - you look awesome as ever and every month your hair keeps looking better and better.
As far as the scraggly hair when you pull it back? I think it looks ok on you, but you'd probably feel better about it, if you trim them - I finally did and I like the look and the feel of my hair on my neck a mot more now. It is hard to trim looking in a mirror - unless you are real good at backing up a trailer on the back of your truck - then, you might find the mirror trick and the clipper to be a challenge, too - I sure do - my hand wants to go in the opposite direction than it needs to.
Fitz!
Hey Tommy,
Very awesome progress. My favorite photo is the first in the collage.
Keep enjoying the growing!

Thanks john! It's gotten more enjoyable the longer it goes.
that looks very cool ! niiiice
You really look fantastic.
Thanks Lucian!

boy, Tommy, it's a big decision - but, I had to go back and look at your photos again and I like the various layers in your hair - it does look great - freshly washed - it would be a tough decision to cut it back to one length any time soon - especially when you can pull it back nicely when you want to -
just thought I'd add my two cents a second time around.
I am with you on being able to pull it back right now, it is handy! Even at the current length I have issues with the front coming out of the hair tie and have to frequently retie it. I'm thinking it will be 2-3 inches before the front reaches my shoulders, so I have some time to think about it still!

Hi Tommy,
I have to say your hair is looking fabulous in leaps and bounds and to think in only 19 months!!!! Your hair has so much potential for further growth its pleasantly scary in a way :)Have to say long hair definitely suits you as I'd challenge anyone who'd say otherwise.Cheers my friend.

Thanks Mark, I appreciate it! I still get a fairly 50/50 mix of like/dislike from my friends and family, so the positive encouragement from you folks is gladly received!.

It looks awesome! I really like your look in the first picture.
It looks awesome! I really like your look in the first picture.
Haha thanks man. I don't mind the look, but in practice my hair drives me nuts when its flying around in my eyes and my mouth like that! That's one of the things I never really thought about until I experienced it!
Your hair looks great! I do NOT know why you should re-evaluate....Just let your hair grow much longer...at least mid-back!
A.D.
Hi A.D, I meant re-evaluate my goals. My original goal has always been to get to shoulder length before deciding to go longer or keep it at that length!

Looking great, Tommy!

Beautiful! You're just about "there".
You are much better with a central parting than the side parting I still have (my front hair still only covers my eyes when it's not combed up and across). I suppose I will move to a central parting when my front "bang" is much longer and will sit as well on the left as on the right.
I have a lot of neck hair, which I don't bother with very much with my hair still in the awkward stage and therefore loose. It will be different when I start ponytailing.
Anyway, well done,
Anthony

Thanks for the feedback on the parting. My wife said the side part looks too similar to a feminine hair style, so that't really why I was asking! I don't necessarily want to rock a "girl" style...maybe I need to try parting it on the side of my head vs. right above my eyebrow.

Interesting. I went to the bathroom this morning and combed my hair and parted it in the middle. My wife did not like it one little bit. I'm not a fan of low partings (absolutely unsuitable for long hair in my view), so I started taking it a little higher. It's quite Victorian as in this portrayal of Oscar Wilde's Dorian Gray.
Yours looks very good in the middle, but you could try a very high side parting - depending on where your crowns are. Let me know what your wife thinks.
I also appreciate your letting your hair grow in spite of it being layered. Some fear getting a "mullet" effect. I must say I'm not worried about that, after hearing my wife talk about "equalizing trims" - which I refuse. I might consider one when my front hair is well through my future ponytail, and then a very careful one, perhaps in several stages so as not to take off too much length. That will be at least two years away.

Hey Tommy!
Well, what can I say other than excellent progress? The middle parting suits you. Actually, any kind of parting does.
Great post, Tommy. Your hair is looking amazing! The ponytail shot is my favorite. Doesn't it feel great?
Thank you Tony, and yes it does feel like a huge accomplishment to be able to pull it back like that!

Man, Tommy... your hair just keep getting better and better! Damn impressive, my friend! =)
Love the way it loooks, and this is truly a huge inspiration source for me going onwards on my own journey!
Thanks so much for sharing!
Hi Tommy,
Great update as usual.
I found the picture on the upper left quite striking. Not to insult anyone, but a lot of the pictures that we take of our hair are quite utilitarian - just snapshots. The first picture in your series is something more: the way the hair frames your face and slightly obscures the eyes. It's an artistic composition of the photograph - again, quite striking.
