Still hanging in there :)
9 months after having shaved my head, it's starting to get back into middle length territory.
I have been continuously trimming the back of my hair, but am now considering letting it grow all over, as it would show a bit more progress than 1/2" on the hair on the top of my head.
Slowly getting there!
You're doing well and you have good thick hair. I understand your wanting it all one length before growing. I couldn't bear that. I'm just letting mine grow in its "layered" way, and I might begin to trim when the back of my hair gets to my mid back - then perhaps 1/2 inch a month off until the rest has caught up. I just wouldn't want the 2-year wait before having any length.
But it's a question of personal preference. You're doing the right thing for you.
Keep going!
Anthony

Hey Anthony,
First off, thanks for your kind comments :)
I can totally understand why one growing out their hair would want to get that 'long' look asap, and how waiting between 1.5-2y to even start showing some length might be torturous.
I am still debating that issue myself.
I really want to experience something new in this growth proccess, but at the same time, I feel that I can't really show enough growth by cutting the back all the time.
You see, I have a youtube channel that is dedicated to my hair growth journey, one of the first ones on youtube, may I dare say.
Since I started posting my videos, many others have been inspired and the whole thing has blown into a rather large community, something that I take quite some pride in.
When talking about showing proggress and having something to talk about, it IS rather difficuly showing growth by continuously cutting the back, so again, I am contemplating letting it all grow from now on, from the 9 month mark.
Here's a link to my channel, should you or anyone else feel inclined to take a look :)

Best of luck! The Best and actually the only way to get there is to Just Let It Grow. Not easy to just ignore it and let it be Hair and Grow out like it does. But, it is the most successful way in the end. Again, Best of luck . sj
Hey Sj!
Thanks for your comment!
It not REALLY the only way, letting it all grow at the same time, considering that it does end up looking layered if grown completely natural, ironically enough.
On the other hand, as I have answered to Anthony, I just might let it do it's own thing again soon, so that I can show and feel more length myself :)
Either way, down to my back it goes this time around!
Hi Raul,
Looking good and what a big difference since you cut your dreads.I glad your growing your hair out again but do agree with the others suggesting to just let your hair grow long, then make adjustments once some length is achieved. It's such a long, tedious process that I myself would not want to be lengthen.Regardless you know what you want as I salute you my friend :) Cheers
Mârk
Thanks Mark!
You are definitely right, and the more the months pass, the more I feel like back out of my original plan of letting the front reach my jawline before I let the back grow out, and just letting it all do it's own thing :)
If you haven't checked out my channel on YouTube yet, please do! Would be an honor, especially considering this place is what gave me all the initial inspiration and support needed to get on to this journey, and now that the YT thing has gotten rather huge, I see you guys as the source of it all!
You're coming along just fine... patience is your new friend.
Fitz
Thanks Fitz!
Patience has always been my friend, we just had a few ups & downs along the way!
You are a great inspiration, as are many others here on the MLHH! Thank you!
Raul,
Thanks for the update...it's hard to believe its been 9 months already. Your hair is looking good.
I have a habit of looking at the backgrounds of pictures...and I have a question: Is that your personal bathroom and is that a urinal behind you on the wall? If yes, are urinals common in Norway? You hardly ever see them in private bathrooms in the US.
Thanks,
Chris
Hey Chris!
That is actually the toilet at my girlfriend's place, and that is definitely not a unrinal, just a plain old toilet, in a bit more of a contemporary, minimalistic style. Still a good ol' toilet seat though :D
With that said, thanks for your comment, bro!
It think at this point it wouldn't make that much of a difference if you let it grow or if you keep on trimming the back for a while. Might as well start now. Anyways, keep it up.
Thanks Michail!
Yeah, the differentce between the hair on the front of my head and the back of my head is about 2-3", and not something I am willing to wait another 6-8 months for to catch up, so I will probably just let it all grow out from here out :)
Just yesterday evening my wife said to another person in the group that I should be cutting and cutting and cutting until all is at the same length.
Of course, the waiting would be so long that it would be assumed I would grow out of the "stupid" long hair phase and conform to The Dogma (men short hair, women long hair)
I see through it like glass. My own resolution is not to do any equalising cutting (other than split ends) until I'm half way down my back, and then no more than normal growth rate (1/2 inch per month).
For you, I'd just say stop cutting. Let it grow.

Can definitely see why others who do not neccessarily want to you see you with long hair would advise you to keep cutting and "evening it out", so in your case, I would definitely not cut anything for the time being!
I have decided to let it all grow from here out, so first 8 months I was trimming the back, now at 9.5 months, I am letting it go. Will be a fun ride, my friend!
It's a ploy, just like the old fable according to which cutting encourages growth. I suppose weed-killer is great for growing vegetables! So, no trimming until it is very long and all my hair is well through the ponytail point, and much further.
My wife hates the "layered" look, but many women pay hairdressers to layer their hair. When my wife gets hers cut (shoulder length) she has layering done by her hairdresser. I just encourage her to stop cutting and to stop dyeing.
Growin' and flowin' - onwards and downwards...

Hi Raul,
Cheers to you for hanging in there! Yes, it is progressing very well indeed, and with your hair's outstanding thickness, it is going to be awesome the longer it gets. Keep up the good work!
Keep it growing,
David
Hi David!
Thank you for the encouraging words, as usual! :)
Bet some didn't think they'd see me doing this almost a year later, but all the support I got both here and on youtube has really made this a no brainer for me, long hair it is! :)
It's so nice to see your hair growing back in again, Raul, and yes I agree that your hair is indeed entering into "middle territory!"

Thanks Ken!
In my eyes, middle territory is between around 3-6 inches, and seeing as I am just entereing the 3.5" stage, I am right in the midst of it!
6" is surely not long compared to many many others here, yourself included, but from my research around the web and in different communities, it seems that is what starts counting as "long-ish hair" :)
