OK - Guys - I want to share some photos of me to show you my progress in growing long hair...
I had my last hair cut in December 2012 preparing for my son's wedding. It was at that time that I'd already been thinking about working on that "bucket list" item - specifically, to see how long I could go without getting a hair cut. I was naïve at first, setting a goal of 6 months, then deciding to go one year. Thanks to several of you guys here on MLHH, I kept going!
18 months photos to follow.
little "OLD" me
Hi Fitz,
This is a very nice pic of you! You look wonderful and I love those glasses! I do hope you keep growing that great hair!
Ted
Thanks, Ted... I can always count on you to boost my confidence and my spirits...
Fitz
yes, that always significant pony tail picture...
Hi Fitz,
Now that's a nice ponytail! Just perfect my friend! Thanks for posting!
Ted
Great progress so far, Fitz!
Love all the different natural(?) highlights you've got going on there! Outstanding job in reaching 18 months, my friend!
Looks good, Fitz. Keep the faith and keep growing.
Hi Fitz,
Wow! Thanks for the awesome update! I knew it would be worth the wait! Your hair is looking so good man! The natural highlights and ends look just wonderful! Great job I must say! But I have to ask-just how long are you going to grow? I just know your hair would look so nice at longer lengths! Keep on growing and please stay well my friend!
Ted
I no longer have a time frame in mind, like I originally set 6 months, 12 months and 18 months as goals... I know I will keep it in mind as I approach these time markers, but now I have a goal of getting to shoulder length. I'd like to see it go to the place where the shoulder line on a dress shirt is... We'll see. It depends on how the top of my head hair holds out... My wife tells me it looks ok now, but said she will let me know when I start to look like my hair is sliding off my head. I have to pay some attention to what she thinks, after all.
Thanks for your kind remarks, Ted.
Fitz
Nice update there Fitz as your really picking up some serious length!I'd suggest to keep doing what your doing and see what that next year and a half produce:) Well done! Cheers

Thanks, Mârk
Appreciate the comments... You are right... I've gone this long. It's counterproductive to have put this much patience into the process only to stop and cut it now... It seems the only thing to do now is keep going and see what I can accomplish in length.
All that awkwardness is gone. It's just growing it out now. Seems like a breeze.
Looks pretty good to me, Fitz. From now it will seem to go much faster, especially if you pay less attention.
Thanks, Michail - I am looking forward to not paying attention to the passage of time and the length of my hair - time to let it just happen.
Well done - another milestone - next one 2 years!

Hi fitzgarce,
Congrats on a great update, and for the ponytail as well! Your hair is coming along very well, and I look forward to seeing what the future will bring!
Keep it growing,
David
Thanks, David
I look forward to the future results, too.
Looking good. I like the colors, it looks like you have blond streaks. It looks like you have about as much on top as I do. Don't let that stop you. It looks great. I'm looking forward to see your further updates.
Thanks, Mike - I appreciate the encouragement... it's one of those deals we have to decide - I am not ready to give in to the balding top like some guys do - I still have a lot of good hair left up there! But, I am envious of the guys with full, thick heads of hair...
I agree completely. All the men in my family have a full head of hair at 50 and then are completely bald at 70. I'm following that pattern just like my dad and his dad. I just wish I had let it grow long ago.
Your hair looks awesome. I think that once a guy gets to the point where the hair is falling past the shoulders like yours is, it's truly long. Even if everyone has been telling you "it's long" for the past year.
Glad you stuck with it to 6-12-18 months!
Thanks,
Chris
I am glad I stuck with it, too. thanks, Chris. Appreciate the encouraging words.
Fitz
You're doing beautifully and I admire your patience. I think you should keep going and not worry about it being thinner on top.
I get the impression that some "try it out" and see how it goes, and others are firmly committed from the outset, determined to make long hair a mark of resilience and character. I think there is room for both.
I get more and more confident as I approach 9 months and feel my hair flapping around my neck in the wind, a wonderful sensation after so many years of short hair.
Keep going...
Anthony
My blog
I am going to keep going, Anthony - thanks for encouraging me.
It's funny - I did go back and forth a lot, and questioned my own thinking along the way - I paid way too much attention to the process and struggled with the awkward way I looked... at times I felt good and other times I felt otherwise...
Now that this has passed, I feel much more confident in my choice to grow my hair long. Once you can pull it back in a tail, things seem to change.
I am excited for you, Anthony, and look forward to seeing you at a year and 18 months of progress, too.
Keep going strong!
Hey Fitz, congrats on 18 months! It truly is an accomplishment and I'm sure your feeling great having reached it! Thanks for the awesome update photos too!

Thanks, Tommy! Appreciate the comments! Always look forward to hearing from you.
Fitz, I have to say that I am definitely impressed -- your hair is looking good, and is quite a bit longer than I thought it was! You also have a very nice hair color (and unlike me, not much "silver" to it - LOL)....
