I read that most shampoo is too concentrated, and that you can put about a tablespoon of shampoo in an empty bottle, and delute it with water or conditioner so it isnt as harsh. I have not tried this yet but wondered if anyone else has heard of this and/or knows if it works.
Since my last visit to have my ends trimmed, I have drastically reduced my use of shampoo. On a daily basis, I only "wash" with conditioner. I shampoo only once or twice a week. On the advice of my stylist, once every two weeks, I mix shampoo with enough baking soda to make a paste that deep cleans. I follow this with a deep conditioner and my regular leave-in conditioning routine.

What does the BAKING SODA DO, specifically? Is it really SAFE?
I guess it is like clarifying shampoo...removing all build-up. My experience is it makes hair pourous and damaged. After all, they recomend using it before dyeing hair with kool-ade as damaged hair will take more of the color.
I was told that the effect was to remove build-up, only to be used once every other week or so. I was told to be sure to use deep conditioning immediately afterward, as it does take everything off the hair. I have used the procedure only once so far, and it seemed to work quite well. My two weeks is up again on Saturday.
