Hey guys! I think some of you have the same problem I do: my hair is so fine and oily it's difficult not to wash it every day. But then I wash it, or even rinse it and it gets so tangled in the shower, even when I'm super careful.
SO. I've been playing around and came up with a routine that seems to work for me.
First, I pull back and pin back my bangs, leaving a little pouf in the front. Then I sprinkle a little hair powder (dry shampoo) at the roots, fluff it in, and leave it clipped up while I drive to work. Then I take out the clip in the parking lot and finger comb it out.
I've got texture and body plus it stays out of my face all day. Perfect for this length. And haven't even done a rinse. It's awesome.
(PS yes that is the World Cup on in the background. I work for a sportswear company!)
I have coarse hair and I figured that you could wean yourself off of shampoo -- first switch to conditioner, and then to wash only when there's gunk in my hair.
So far, since I never got to the point where I have had gunk in my hair, I haven't properly washed it for half a year already.
Thanks for the additional tips guys!
Hi Steve, great hair my friend! Well I too have very fine hair so I know all too well the issues with tangles. My hair generally has to be washed every other day otherwise it looks flat and ugly.LOL.The one nice thing about it being like that is its easier to run a comb/brush through considering how oily it is.However what I do on hair wash day is before I let my hair get wet from the shower I comb and brush it out making sure its tangle free from the get go.This makes it much easier brushing it once it dries from being washed.I know had I skipped doing that I would regret it later.Maybe give that a try as my hair is longer than yours so should be easier for you:)Cheers

What I found was critical to avoid shower tangles was to NEVER scrub my hair or even disarrange it from the normal way it lies. Using diluted shampoo squirted into my hair, then using a patting type of movement rather than rubbing, then rinsing with the grain of the hair helps. Plus conditioner on whatever tends to tangle (for me, the length).
Good Luck!
Hey! I am pretty gentle while washing. Still tangles a bit! I've got the tangle prone gene I guess.
