OK. One more. Here's my ponytail over my shoulder. This is fun!!
Ponytail's looking good as well, and I like the facial hair as well! Do you shape the bard to be "pointy" like that, or it just grows like that naturally?
Thanks Raul, It tends to grow that way, but I do shape it. I like the chin a bit longer than the sides,
Do you have a ponytail pic from the back?
I'll try to get one up!
Hi Growlur, great update!!!
One of the things I discovered as my own hair first grew gradually longer and looooonger, was that I ended up preferring to fling my hair in front of one shoulder over the other one -- in my case, I discovered it was my left shoulder... but maybe this is because historically, much of my adult life I've preferred using public transportation over buying a car in San Francisco.
"But, what does THAT have to do with the price of wheat in Tasmania?", you ask? (LOL)
Well, whenever I ride on the city bus or take a BART train ("Bay Area Rapid Transit") somewhere, I'm always bringing a backpack along with me -- so whenever I take that on or off my back, flinging a long ponytail or braid or loose hair over my left shoulder gets it easily out-of-the-way for me (I'm right-handed, so my left shoulder is the best shoulder for me to do that quickly).
Besides the above reason, even with no knapsack on my back, I still seem to prefer having my hair forward over my left shoulder, I guess for aesthetic reasons as well - go figure!
The longer your hair gets, the more you'll start to notice odd little new habits begin to form; but hey, you're right: it's FUN!!

Now when i'm on the subway or bus I usually just have my hair loose and hanging down the back. I don't carry a backpack and usually have just my cell phone, wallet, keys, and sometimes my
kindle fire. But the hair is just loose and hanging down the back.
I do braid the hair/pony tail it/bun it/or pig tail it but it's always loose when i'm on mass transit.
Interesting, I'm pretty much the exact opposite (unless I'm using my commute time to air-dry my hair after shampooing in the morning).
For safety reasons, I NEVER keep my hair in back of me while riding public transportation. For example: there was a guy who used to post here fairly regularly ("Linus Longhair", or some similar name) who told a story of having some trouble-making teen behind him on a bus to NYC who cut some of his hair off -- he didn't notice until later, because he was unable to feel the scissors cutting it at the time this nasty kid did the dirty deed.
The first time I grew my hair long (in the '90s), I remember flinging my hair behind me on a crowded bus, when some guy said rather loudly to me, "Hey, watch it! I don't appreciate your hair in my face!" I apologized profusely and remembered that from that moment on.
I*ve been riding mass transit for many years now. Alot of it comes down to being aware of your surroundings. In all those yesrs i've never had a pro9blem. If i'm in a situation where my
hair may be threatened I'll just pull it formward so that it
flows down my chest. But i've never had an issue on mass transit. Come to think of it i've never had an issue with my hair in that regard.
I would also point out the likely hood of that happening is somewhere between slim and none. The bottom line is this is the big city and 1. our trains and buses have video cameras roling
2. someone pulls out a scissors and cuts your hair, the
person geting the their hairut may pull out a knife or gun or kick them in the groin. So more than likely it won't happen. it's also wise to be aware of your surroundings when you're reading/listening to music/etc. Oh and whatever you do,
don't fall asleeep. I've had long hair now for 50+ years,
i've been riding mas mass transit for 41 of those years.
And of those 41 years much of the time was on buses and subways that were jam packed.
Hadn't really thought about it, but once you mentioned it I realized I've gotten into the habit of pulling mine over my right shoulder when needed. I suspect this has to do with getting it out of the way when I'm putting my belt through belt loops. With men's pants you start around the left, so it was easier to pull the belt around the left and back, and by the time I need to work around my right hip, I can just toss my 'tail around to the back and finish off the belt.

When I am out and about, usually left shoulder (backpack on right), however when I am messing with it, almost always over my right shoulder. go figure!
I am amazed how we, in our high-tech age, can enjoy something so simple as our own hair. I'm not being facetious, but sincere as I discover something new with my own. For me, the first was discovering my curls that I never had with short hair.
This enjoyment of simple things is reassuring that humanity might survive after everything else fails...
