Apologies that I'm posting a pic of a long-haired female on a MEN'S Long Hair Hyperboard, but how could I resist? I tell her all the time that she's the prettiest little girl (along with her short-haired sister) West of the Misssissippi -- and East of the Mississippi is no competition, either!
Anybody else here have any long-haired furry friends or "family"?
Oh! I almost forgot to introduce you: this is Fufu (also spelled Foo-foo; but her formal name is Charlotte). She and her sister, Sami, just recently celebrated their 8th birthday!
They are both rescued kittens, by the way, born on the 4th of July in '06, under my partner's former landlady's back porch in Southern California, by a ferrel cat -- the landlady threatening to drown all 4 of the kittens if he didn't "do" something about it (as if it was his fault that a ferrel cat gave birth to a litter of kittens)! After my partner and his co-worker bottle-fed them as tiny babies, the 2 boy kittens found a nice home down in SoCal., while Fufu and Sami moved up here to San Francisco when they were only 6 weeks old, enjoying looking out the kitchen window and meowing at city pigeons ever since!

Hey Ken,
Bert says hi! That's Lord Snugglebert Underfoot to be most proper! Cool post!
jonalbear
WOW, Bert is absolutely gorgeous!!!! Thank goodness Fufu can't read English, or she'd be jealous I said that about another cat than her (LOL)!
Always great to hear from you, jonalbear!
- Ken
Thanks Ken!
peace,
jonalbear
Don't underestimate the ability of your pets to talk to other people's pets. A number of years ago an amateur radio operator in the U.S. was talking to another in New Zealand. One of the men's dogs barked, and the other man's dog barked back. The two of them then had a 10,000 mile shortwave conversation, consisting of barking, for several minutes! Meanwhile, of course, the two men were totally incapacitated by laughter.
Bill
Lord Snugglebert Underfoot. I love the name!
That cat has got to be a real sweetheart. You can tell that just by looking at him.
Bill
Bill,
Indeed he is!
jonalbear
that is one beautiful cat, jonalbear
"fitzgarce",
Snugglebert thanks you!

jonalbear
Hi jonalbear,
I am very happy to meet Lord Snugglebert Underfoot! What a beautiful kitty and I love his name!

Ted,
Snugglebert is happy to meet you as well!

Since this is a mens long hair site my favorite long hair is
my Cinnamon, who died about eight years ago. He dropped from 14 pounds to five pounds and would not have lived very much longer.
Before they even euthanized him the anestesia ended it. He was 19 years old. A few months later my 18 year old Pandora had to be euthanized at the age of 18. Somewhere I have photos of them. I now have three cats, two who are 8 years old and one that is 11 months old. (And yes it is a black kitten.)
We get so attached to our animal companions, it's always so heart-breaking when we lose them. I'm so sorry to hear about your Cinnamon, and also your Pandora; but 18 and 19 years old is a pretty long life for a cat. My partner arrived up here with a total of 4 cats; but the 2 boys both died at age 13 (3 years apart) of kitty cancer. Good to hear you still have cats in your life, though, they are such a joy!!
- Ken
Aw, I know how you feel about your long living furry companions - they do become family - and it's hard - even if they have long lives - cats who live indoors do live quite long.
Thanks for sharing your loves.
Yes 18 and 19 are very old for a cat. All of my cats are indoor cats, the best example of why is this morning there was a deer
in the front of a neighbors house. It would appear that the deer was hit by a car that was probably flying down the street at 80
mph. Outdoor cats have other hazards like the wild turkeys in the area and who knows what other wild animals are in the area. Some nights you'll hear loud screams, (probably wild turkeys going a neighborhood dog.) And then there are outdoor cats and dogs who get stolen.
But yes we do love our pets. How much do we love our pets?
I figured out that when I had Cinnamon we spend more than $7,000 over the course of his 19 years.
The other problem with outdoor cats is who owns them.
Lawyers have found that if you have an outdoor cat and you take it with you that cat may have as many as six "owners" none of whom know about the others.
Yeah, we'll forgive you for posting that gorgeous creature. How could you resist?
Your "longhaired cat" probably thinks she's a shorthaired critter in YOUR household though! Kitties love to hide, and she could bury herself in either of the human manes there, and never be seen!
Bill
LOL, yes, and another interesting thing about this particular cat is that she has a "thing" for hair-ties -- whenever I take one out of my hair (OR go get one to put into my hair), her eyes get all big, she stares at it very intensely, and then when I toss it down the stairs, she will actually go and play "fetch" with it, go figure! Then when she's all done playing with the hair-tie, she'll pick it up with her teeth and drop it into her food bowl... one time I saw as many as 3 hair-ties in that bowl!!! (But usually we find them later, underneath furniture, when she's played "soccer" and batted it beyond her reach - LOL)
I keep my hair ties away from the cats. I'd be nervous one of them would swallow it. Especially the kitten. They hate going to the vet as it is. Also if they swallow i would think it would
have the danger of getting tangled in some of the cats innards.
We only allow them to play with the larger type of hair-ties, the ones that are too big for a cat to swallow.
- Ken
My cat does that same thing. We loose so many hair ties it's ridiculous. Last time I moved the fridge I found close to 50 good hair ties.
Daniel
That is a beautiful long haired cat, Ken...
I'm glad you shared this... one of my passions is rescuing animals - I've been honored to do this (within the confines of reality) since I was a little kid growing up on our farm in upstate NY.
I've always wished I could have affored to keep my family farm and turned it into an animal sanctuary something like I've seen in California - the Gentle Barn -ever heard of it?
But, living in the suburbs of Syracuse now - over the years I've had several cats and dogs - the most at one time living with me were 3 of each - and that was a boundary pusher - currently on board is a long haired black dog (13 years old) a short haired white and black dog (8 years old) Benny and Joey are their names. And a brown tabby cat named Carl who is 12 and a beautiful gray and white cat named Milo who is 4
- RIP Libby, Claude, Coco and Cassie (my only long-haired cat - she was whacked by a neighbor's shovel and he broke her back - had to put her down and from then on do my best to keep my cats indoors)
I saw a TV show on something that sounded similar to that (but don't remember the name); but definitely sounds awesome!!
That's horrible -- was it intentional? If so, I hope you reported him to your local SPCA. Our cats are also indoors-only (my partner insisted on it), this city is a rough place to allow a cat to roam free.
Thanks so much for your reply, Fitz! Off to work soon...
- Ken
"...Anybody else here have any long-haired furry friends or "family"?..."
Hi Foo-Foo, my name is Penguin and I live on my person's ranch in Nevada where me and my "Harem" have a wonderful life spending our days; napping, catching birds & lizards and tending to all our young ones.
Come visit !!
OMG, Walter, Penguin is Hollywood-GORGEOUS!!!! (But don't tell Fufu I said that, as she thinks she and her sister are the only gorgeous furry cats in the world - LOL)!
I would LOVE to come visit!! Sometime, yes, I think it would be a blast!!!
- Ken
Hi Walter,
What a beautiful kitty you have there Walter! I am very pleased to meet your furry friend even though he's asleep! He definitely has the right idea there! I wouldn't mind coming to visit one day!
Ted
"...He definitely has the right idea..."
....in other circles, White Tail is known as NapCat !, Giggle
Mighty nice looking hair, that is fur, you have there. Thanks for taking in those that need rescued.
Thank you so much, white mane, I'm so grateful my partner brought these cats into my life!
- Ken
My cat is a short hair. She says she wants to let her hair grow out like her human or at least her dog, but it's just not growing. Maybe she has reached terminal length? Her dog in a mini Schnauzer that hasn't gone to the groomer's in 3 years so she has grown quite the coat of curly hair. Her curls hide alot of her length though. It's a good thing, otherwise she would be walking on her hair constantly.
Daniel
LOL, yes, I think your short-haired cat has reached "terminal length" just like Sami, Fufu's little sister, has! Your Schnauzer, on the other hand, might need a slight trim soon! (LOL)
- Ken
Hey Ken, what a unique and heartwarming post to be bestowed on the mlhh:) Your cats are beautiful and I'm privilaged to actually have met them during my trips out west.Charlotte looks like she's enjoying the life of luxury there.lol.As you know I currently have two cats,Opal the longhair and Cooper the shorthair.LOL. I have to say they provide me great company to what can be a humdrum life. Here's one of Opal! Cheers
Mârk
Isn't it funny how they love the keyboard... Milo does this too, and often lays on my hand - his head bobbing as my fingers type
It's called trying to get your attention to feed them.
My cats have perfected it to an art form.
Ahh............your cat on the computer surfing the web for
kitty porn.................
Great one!
B
OMG Mark, Opal's colorful coat should be on the cover of Glamour magazine!!!!! Do you Henna her fur? (LOL) Seriously though, that is one BEAUTIFUL cat!!!!
Yes, you have indeed been one of the few here who have met both Fufu and Sami in-the-flesh (or should I say, "in-the-fur?" - LOL).... In fact, Eve still talks about how amazing it was that Fufu actually came out from her hiding spot under the bed to say hello to you -- something that normally NEVER happens!
I think you have a gift with animals, Mark, they must sense your kind heart, or Fufu wouldn't have shown her trust and comfort with you.
"Later, 'gator!"
- Ken
Hi Mark,
Wow! I thought your kitty had superfeline powers! Opal is looking very happy there surfing the net and I am very happy to meet her! She is definitely a beautiful kitty my friend! Just don't let her hog the computer!
Ted
Hi Ken,
I am very pleased to meet Fufu! A very beautiful cat indeed! I am so happy to hear you and your partner have rescued these kittiesand given them a forever home! I don't have any pets now, but have had many in the past. Thanks for posting this very nice kitty and story!
Ted
Great story about a great little kitty turned ol' lady, Ken! =)
6 weeks sure is a young age, and I am really happy to see and hear both girls made it okay and are having a good life now!
Love cats, btw! And always enjoyed owning them!
Next time I move to different apartment, I will surely get a cat again, as it's been a few years since I had to give away my 5 year old cat when moving to the capital of Oslo.
Not all landlords love cats, to put it that way.
Hi Raul,
I'm grateful to say i have a very pet-friendly landlord; but you are right, not all landlords are that way.
Thanks for the reply! And by the way, I just saw your post re. your trip to London, and your girlfriend is just BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
I'll post more replies later this weekend...
- Ken
PS - Your hair and beard are looking great!!
Thanks Ken!
She REALLY is a gorgeous woman, and miraculously owns just as much a beautiful heart as she is beautiful on the outside... I am truly blessed with her in my life :)
The beard is a funny story... I honestly do want to say it high, since I know my past slate and beards, but I have never really been as much into beards as I am right now!
Check out this dude, Steveo the Beardo... he is truly inspiring me lately... wonder how the hell does one even get that perfect shape, hmmm..
http://ink361.com/app/users/ig-33690183/steveo_the_beardo/photos
WOW, definitely an amazing beard on that guy -- AND his hair is long in most of those pics, too!!
Thanks for the reply, Raul! Back to work now (LOL)....
