I'm new here, but I came to tell you guys something disappointing. Danny Cecati, the lead singer of Eyefear with the really long hair, left the band just before Valentine's Day! I find that sad because I really liked him and his hair.
Apparently this was announced back in February.
danny-cecati-leaves-eyefear
He decided not to leave on March the 12th or a day or 2 earlier. There was a meeting with the band and decided not to leave.
He sent this out.
I've got some good news
After a lot of thinking and more thinking, and sleepless nights...I've decided not to end my time with EYEFEAR.
A meeting was called and we had a long chat about the future of the band and where we want to take it.
As I said at the time I left, I never had any issues or bad feelings with the boys, and the 12 or so years that I have been with Eyefear is not easy to let go of!
So..I'm back with Eyefear and I'd like to thank all the fans for your continued support
We will keep you posted with more info in the next week or two.
Danny
I assume that your observation is not connected with the photograph?
What then is the photograph for? - No long hair showing in it.
He said he's new here. He said he liked long hair. He passed on information about a guy who's often mentioned here. He posted a picture of himself, probably, and it came out sideways. Give him a break, and about three years, and by then, he'll have the site figured out, and he'll likely have plenty of hair.
Bill
Come to think of it Bill, I don't believe I have ever seen a photo of UK's long hair posted here. I could be wrong. I checked the user's directory and found nothing.
Ted
Yes, I believe you are correct, Ted. I've never seen UK post a pic of himself, either. Isn't it sad that sometimes the most critical people unfortunately seem to behave as if hiding something themselves? Chalk it up to "human nature", I guess; but as the old saying goes, "people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones!"
- Ken
Hi Ken,
Indeed it is sad. I will never understand it either. You have to give someone a chance to introduce themselves first. It's easy to tell if they're serious about long hair I think. Oh well, enough of this and onward and downward! Have a wonderful day Ken!
Ted
Chalk it up to "human nature", I guess; but as the old saying goes, "people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones!"
What they should throw is parties with naked dancers :P
I like that idea!
Ted
That depends on WHO is dancing around naked! When I was in my 20s, 30s, and 40s I took a lot of dance classes; but nobody in their right mind nowadays would want to see me at one of those glass house parties (LOL)!!
And you will not see a picture. Wither the advent of facial recognition software and other software which 'scratches' material I am not able to post photographs. That is not uncommon and you must accept that limitation.
As you recognise my posts you will see most support those trying to grow out, just as support here helped my path when I started to grow my hair again 10 years ago. I recognise the support from David Parkes (Sorted) of blessed memory and Jason through his struggles, therefore this glib criticism is utterly misplaced.
The only time I normally criticise is those who worry about washing routines and publish monthly updates - every three weeks in some cases......
In this instance the youth did not convince me at all. Whilst he said he "liked long hair" the emphasis I felt was on losing a band member not his intent to grow his hair.
One may choose to not post a picture of himself on MLHH, but that will give him a limited role here. He will find that most users will not extend credibility to any comments he might make on the photos of others.
Bill
I agree totally with this Bill. How do we even know UK has long hair? He could be just like our friend who posted with short hair who he criticized. I must see to believe. Facial recognition software? Man I tell ya.
Ted
I would point out someone isn't going to find your photo and use facial recognition on i9. Think about, there are billions of photos on the internet. The chances of them finding your photo on the internet are probably about the same as you being struck by lightning 25 times. (You've got millions of web sites, billions of photos, the chances your photos won't be found to use facial recognition on.)
And even if they found your photo it would take many years to go through the billions of photos on the millions of sites. And even if by chance they found your photo they would not know who you are unless you have GPS information embedded into the photo,
or you something like an address or phone number with the photo.
One thing I would add too is facial recognition is far from flawless. If you're at a football game and their doing
Facial recognition on Whitey Bulger their going to get many
false positives. The technology is not as good as they portray on tv. Do they even use it on the internet? I've only heard of it being used at live events.
This is very simple: How do we even know that YOU have a kidney problem - you tell us at great length but is that merely gain sympathy and cover any other shortcoming?
You will find that you have to 'trust' anyone who posts on a web board:
How does anyone know that YOU are 'Ted' and not Humphrey, we don't. So if you do not know what facial recognition software is, I suggest that you look it up. Facebook has it and threatens to use it and that is merely a public declaration.
I have never come across such intolerance on this Board in ten years - I certainly will not again.
¡Adiós!
Bill
Amen to that, Bill! I happen to really love and appreciate this board! I visit this board many times per day looking for new posts. I like how this board maitains a good environment for longhairs to communicate. Please keep up the great work!
Ted
I know what Facial Recognition software is. It's not perfected as much ss you see on Tv. They can go into a football stadium ostensibly to search for someone like Whitey Bulger. Depending on the settings they'll get a boat load of false positives. It has a long way to go to be perfected.
As far as Facebook, if they're not careful people will on it faster than you can say MySpace. As it is Facebook is on thin ice
already.
BTW, Facebook isn't going to use Facial Recognition. They mis identify someone, they get arrested and Fscebook gets seud faster than you can say "like." Right now the technology is too flawed.
I would mention that facial recognition software is not flawless. Someone steals your identity. The facial recognition software won't know who is really you. And with identity theft the huge problem it is facial recognition software will be even less useful.
Okay, so you are telling me that you think I could be pretending to have a kidney problem. How idiotic is that? And I surely don't need sympathy-and I surely don't have any short comings.
I can tell you I trust each and every person who posts on this board.
I am Ted because I would never ever have the name Humphrey. That is a funny name. And I don't worry about facial recognition software because I have nothing to hide. You just cannot live in a vacuum.
You are the one who seems to be intolerant here. I find it hard to believe you have been around this board for 10 years. But as Bill said, Sayonara!
Ted
Not necessrily.................but then i'm old enough to remember him.
And then there is Humphrey Bogart.
Yes i'm definitely old.
Hubert Humphrey - Senator and candidate for president
I remember them also. I think we are approaching the "older
than dirt" category. Plus we don't normally chose our names,
our parents usually burden us with them.
Of course, no one knows if "UK" has long hair. For all we know, "UK" stands for the University of Kansas, or for nothing at all. For all we know, "he" is not male.
The rest of this post is not directed to UK in particular, not wishing to single him out. It is directed to folks here in general.
All social groups have a "membership card". If you join a running club, you've got to run. If you join a cycling club, you've got to ride a bike. If you join a ham radio club, you've got to get a license. Or you have to be actively working on "getting there", or you won't be accepted. In a longhair group, you've got to have long hair, or be working on it. Long hair is your membership card. Other members to accept you have to see your membership card.
There are reasons in some groups to hide one's identity, but none of them apply here. We are a men's group. People don't generally stalk men, because they don't like getting broken noses. We have long hair, but anyone but a blind man can see that every time we walk out the front door, where people will be much more in your face than on the Internet. To be accepted by a group of longhairs, you have to show them your hair, and since there is no valid reason to not do that, showing your hair is your membership card among all longhair groups and it is the same here.
Also, this site is very much about a feature of personal appearance. A chess club won't care what you look like. They care about how you play chess. A major activity here is sharing with others concerning our personal appearance. To participate in that sharing, you have to share. Duh.
We all know who the "real people" here are. We see a variety of photos of them and in them it's clear they are having fun. They may have a nickname, but we know what their name is and what area they live in. They have met others in person if they've been here long, and most of us if we haven't met them know someone who has. What we see of them on personal web pages or on sites like Facebook matches what we see here. When we meet one of them for the first time, there are no surprises.
So you post your picture on here and people are going to find out you are a man and you have long hair. Woop-te-do.
Oh, as far as the NSA goes, I hate to burst your bubble, but they already know everything about you, no matter what you do. You are just hiding yourself from lots of people who could be your friends.
Bill
Here's an idea, you could show picture taken from rear (at about a 30 degree angle or so off direct rear) That would allow you to obscure your facial features.
Bruce
Hi Jacob,
First of all: Welcome to MLHH!!! We're always happy to see new people here, so thank you for posting!
Danny Cecati has amazing hair, so hopefully he didn't cut it (you only mentioned that he left the band Eyefear, so I'm crossing my fingers that this is the only worry of yours); but please feel free to keep us posted if you have any further information about him.
Thanks again for posting -- and again, Welcome to the Hyperboard!
- Ken in San Francisco, California
Danny Cecati is a wonder of wonders, with such amazingly long and beautiful hair. I can't imagine why he left Eyefear, and I hope whatever he does in the future does not involve cutting his gorgeous floor-length mane.
I have no idea why he left the band but alot of bands break up due to creative differences, wanting to have solo career, wanting to do something else, or arguements between band members.
Or girlfriends.

Hey Jacob,
Welcome to the tribe! Thanks for posting.
I don't know Danny, however, I would like to know more about him. Do you have a pic of him? I hope that he has not cut his hair.
Thanks for the pic you posted of yourself. Are you growing your hair? Keep us posted about your progress. We're here to help and encourage each other in growing out our hair.
I look forward to seeing more of you on this hyperboard.

Welcome aboard, Jacob!
Are you thinking about growing your hair long as well?
I know it's probably a minority pov here, but I think that rocker's hair is waaaaaaaaaaaay too long, both from an aesthetical and a practical pov... either way, he sure could rock, and had some great quality hair!
Rock on, man! and welcome!
