Getting there :)
--Val
Great progress! Enjoy.
Thanks, bte. There's nothing to do BUT enjoy it :)
Cheers,
Val
Hey Val,
Wow, it's just great to see you becoming the longhair that you've long aspired to be! You have such excellent hair that it's practically a crime to keep it short! :D
We're here every step of the way to enjoy seeing your progress and to cheer you on!
Best,
Jason
Thanks, Jason! This is the longest my hair has been in a LONG time... it's interesting to watch it reveal its "personality" as it grows.
Cheers,
Val
It is fascinating to observe how our hair behaves as it lengthens and quite sad that many never get to find that out.
I'm curious, have you received any comments about the new length?
Not really. I'm about to begin interviewing for a new job (as, due to "significant organizational restructuring," my current position will no longer exist as of October 1st), and will be interested to see if my hair is an issue for any potential employers. Luckily, I feel I have enough options that cutting it will not be necessary to secure employment.
*Sigh* The adventure continues!
--Val
I'm sorry to hear that, Val. With your education and experience in the medical field, hopefully another position will open soon and that your hair won't be an issue. I guess this means you will have to be open to relocating. Your family has been on the move so much lately.
Val, you're just getting to be one big ball of fur! Looks great!
Bill
Haha... thanks, Bill! Why fight it, right?
Cheers,
Val
Hi Val,
Cheers to you on your long hair growing journey! You have such wonderful, thick hair to work with, and I look forward to your future progress!
Keep it growing,
David
Thank you for the kind words and inspiration, David. I'll keep you posted!
Cheers,
Val
Awesome hair buddy! I love the beard too!
Thanks, Dave! The beard has really become a part of my identity, and it is hard to imagine ever being clean-shaven again. My children have even given it a name ("Fuzzy"), and they would be heartbroken if I ever shaved!
Cheers,
Val
Wow! Great progress for less than a year. You really have great hair and it will be cool to see your future updates.
Thanks,
Chris
Thank you, Chris. I do feel fortunate regarding my rate of hair growth, which averages about 5/8- to 3/4-inch per month. I'll be sure to keep you posted :)
Cheers,
Val
If it weren't for that pleasant smile and those sparkling eyes, Val, I would think I was seeing a grizzly bear... When you go for it, you go! Glad to see your progress... How is your son liking his dad now?
Haha... thanks, Fitz! I'm actually trying to get back to a less "bear-like" and more "wolfish" physique. Luckily, being a fur-bearing mammal is conducive to both!
My children are definitely enjoying my increasing hirsuteness. It will be nice to walk beside them as a fellow longhair!
Cheers,
Val
The hair and beard look great together. Let them both grow.
Scott
Thanks, Scott :)
I have learned that I prefer to keep my beard trimmed to between 1- and 2-inches in length. It's full and dark enough that I appear fairly heavily bearded at that length, and I find it more comfortable than wearing it longer than that. As for my cranial hair, my current goal length is low-back (4 to 6 inches above the tailbone).
Cheers,
Val
Val, it's good to see that you are able to follow your desire to longhairdom.
Lookin' good!
Bruce
Thanks, Bruce! What else is there for any of us to do, but follow our genuine desires? I've found this quote by Omar Khayyam to be quite pertinent:
The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ,
Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit
Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.
Time keeps moving forward; my greatest fear is to one day lie on my death bed and regret the things I didn't do when I had the chance.
And so, I'll keep it growing :) !
Cheers,
Val
Hey Val,AWESOME HAIR!!!!!
I have to hand it to you your hair genes are just epic :)
You have the best of both worlds with thick hair and a thick beard.I can't wait to see where this goes next my friend :) Cheers
Mârk
Thank you, Mârk! I do feel fortunate regarding the type of hair Nature gave me, though this community is filled to overflowing with awesome examples of many other types, as well. Might as well make the most of what we've got, right?
Cheers,
Val
Val, you have an amazingly thick and full head of hair, I'm jealous!!! What a great start, it will be wonderful to watch your progress!
"Onward &Downward!"
- Ken
Thank you, Ken :) Though when it comes to hair-jealousy, I've gotta say you are definitely the ob ject of envy for many people!
Cheers,
Val
Hi Val,
Man, you have some wonderful thick hair and a very nice beard to go with it! I am so happy to see you letting it grow my friend! Together with your great smile you're looking awesome! I definitely will be waiting anxiously for your future updates! Onward and downward, Sir!
Ted
Thank you, Ted! As you know and exemplify so well, whatever it is we find ourselves doing, it can't hurt to do it with a smile :)
Cheers,
Val
Val
You have come a long way in a short time...looks fantastic, but it will still be hard to catch up to your son !
Thanks for sharing
Walter
Haha... thanks, Walter :) It does seem to grow fast, though I maintain no illusions of being able to outdo my son in the hair department.
Cheers,
Val
Looking great Val... enjoy it!
The Spaf Man
Looking good, Val! The curls in the back look EXACTLY like the back of my head, and it's really starting to get messy back there now, around the 10 month mark!
I would ask you how do you deal with it, though I know you well enough you simple don't, hehe.
Keep on growing! :)
My hair is similar to both of you, I try my best to keep it tamed but on a good day it still goes every direction possible except down!
Haha... why fight it, Stickeelion :)?
By the way, the thread has drifted far down the page, but I wanted to thank you for your kind comments a while back, about the way I (and my wife) have chosen to parent our children. I honestly never thought that I might be influencing the way others may parent, but I am glad to know that the message of tolerance and appreciation for genuine self-expression and authenticity is spreading.
Cheers,
Val
wonder if you'll see this but in any case:
Hehe, I guess I should just let be crazy (like me :D )
No worries, I remember that thread about your long haired son, but looking back I can't seem to find any posts I made... you might have the wrong person but either way I do feel you are are doing a great job and I agree with your sentiments :)
Thanks, Raul. You've got me figured out! The more I try to control my hair, the more uptight and less confident I look and feel. For me, the best way to deal with it is to just keep things simple... clean, conditioned, combed/brushed. Besides, I think if you've got the curls, it seems almost "wrong" to try to tame them... like plucking the petals off of a flower in order to make it look "neat and tidy." Don't deprive the world of that beauty, man!
Cheers,
Val
Makes sense man, I like the way you think :D hehe
WOW, Val - you've got great hair...
Thanks again, Fitz :)
--Val
Looks great Val! I have to say I'm envious of the beard :)
-Thomas
Thanks, Thomas... Here in the Frozen North, the beard is valuable for more than just the sake of appearance :)
Cheers,
Val
Coming along nicely, Val. You've got a waviness many women would kill for, and might I say the beard suits you well.
