... why not show some beard progress? ;)
A bit over 4 weeks, more determined to keep it up than ever when it comes to facial hair! Actually starting to get used to the way it looks and feels!
Here's me right now and my beard inspiration, Ryan Hurst as Opie in S.O.A!
Will be exciting when it starts leaving my chin, especially since I don't like the natural, wild look! God knows how I will shape it the correct way! :D
Shaping your beard is easy, because you can see it. This is how it is different from trimming your own hair.
When men shape their beards, they can do it so their face has a shape that they like even better than the shape their face actually has. If not done to excess, no one will notice that the man's face is not the shape of his beard.

Which is all fine and dandy as for the theoretical part of beard shaping, though how about the practical? Scissors? And how to create the perfect shape to look anything remotely close to this?
My preference is to keep the beard short. I always had trouble keeping the beard clean, hence the short beard. I was always getting food in it.
SOA = Sons of Anarchy. (Warning: it cost $1.99 to watch an episode on Comcast.)
Back when I shaped my beard, I always just used scissors. Some guys use electric clippers, especially if they are not cutting their beard very long. They can get beard hairs all of a more uniform length with clippers.

Excellent! The beard suits you very well.

Thanks Val! Probably the longest beard I have ever heard :)
Hi Raul,
Have to say you'll look like a mountain man before you know it so you'll fit right in during future nature hikes:)Cheers

Hehe... sure does grow a whooole lot quicker than the hair on top of my head, I can tell you that much, Mark! =)
Hiking in western norway begins next week! pictures are coming! =)
Looking great Raul!
After you get past the itching stage, you will wonder what it was like NOT to have a beard... Mine is now 5" at the bottom...I have trimmed the sides a little, but not the end since 2-2013..
Keep it all growin!
The Spaf Man
Thanks buddy! :)
To be honest, it doesn't itch all that much anymore, now that I am into it's 5th week, though I still think it feels "better" having only a short stubble... sure doesn't look as good though, hehe
That sounds like a great beard! Hope to get to at leat 6-7" myself, and I WILL be keeping the areas under my temples short and clean, as well as frame the beard to be rather triangular/square.
Here's a side view, I am really getting used to it now :)
Hi Raul,
Very nice beard growth progress my friend! You are going to look double awesome when the hair and beard both grow out! Please keep it growing buddy!
Ted
Thanks buddy, will do!
Loving the beard so far, and as I said, I am planning on going at LEAST until Sept 17, my 3 month beard anniversary, and 1 year hair anniversary :)
The beard is filling in nicely. Have no advice on the trimming and shaping as it gets longer, that's never really worked for me when I've let mine grow out some.
Keeping mine fairly short these days, as my new granddaughter likes to grab on!
Frodo
Thanks JSFrodo!
Yeah, I am getting the impression that getting tips for shaping a beard and keeping a nice, trendy shape, this board is not the place for it, as most beards here are caveman beards, heh ;)
Guess I will have to find an old school barber and see if anyone can help me professionally, when the time is right.
I've ended up favoring the shorter beard for myself. I've tried growing it out a few times, but it's never gotten past an inch or two in length before I end up getting frustrated with it and trimming it down to a 1/4-inch or so.
Good luck with whatever style you go for.
Thanks man, will be exciting to see if it actually grows in length, which I am pretty sure it will ;)
