23 months without a haircut or trim. Also my wife has been giving me nothing but crap about me hair but recently she said I should put it in a tail which I did and she said she likes it that way. She's finally coming around.
Hi Mike.
Your hair looks great....but don't forget to take care of your supportive wife... Wish mine was as supportive!

I would call her more tolerant than supportive. She would still prefer I get it cut, but as long as I wear it in a tail when we go out I won't hear complaints about it. It's still a great deal of progress for her and I am very happy about it.
Hey Mike! Your hair looks great - that ponytail is fantastic.
You keep rocking it out, there, Mike - I am right behind you... just passing 19 months here.
Before long we'll both be well beyond the 2 year point. I just wish I had started years ago. I've always been a longhair at heart! Keep it growing!!!
To me your hair looks good either way; but I understand about your wife's ponytail comment, most of society prefers seeing longhaired men wearing a tail instead of having their hair loose for some reason.
Your hair looks very shiny & silky, I hope you keep it long!

I do prefer to wear it loose, except when doing dirty work or getting sweaty, but if it means I won't hear the complaints I am happy with the tail when we go out. I do plan to keep it long for as long as I can grow hair. Thanks for your compliments.
This is something that comes and goes with the tide. Wives can be remarkably callous about our desires and ideas of identity. They like us to be "in their system" and under control. They want to dominate. It's all a big game to them.
My wife tried convincing me into a "pageboy" style whilst waiting for the top hair to catch up - damage control failing a "proper" haircut. Fortunately for me, her mind is all over the place and there is no sequence in ideas. She's presently on about dieting and getting weight down. I'll let her get herself all wrapped up in that. Give a child a new toy and you have a moment of quiet!
They generally prefer tailing than our leaving it loose. For us, it's better than cutting, and it is practical for when we are working, doing the gardening, fixing the car or whatever.
Always the same with wives - feed her a sop and distract her attention elsewhere. When the hair is fully grown, keep it immaculately clean and groomed, especially as we get older, greyer and more straggly.
Another point is her discovering how nice long hair can be, just like with them. Let then ideas come from her. Make it a long war of attrition and wearing out the men-short women-long ideology. It takes time.
The tides and the waves come and go. We just have to ride them.
Good luck...
Anthony

First of all Mike, it looks great and you're coming along nicely.
Wow, your story is so familiar to me! My wife said the exact things to me. The next step happens when your hair is about another 4 inches and she'll think you should braid your hair. She won't feel differently about long hair but she'll enter a new level of acceptance. This happened in 2008 for me and I have braided ever since.

Hi Mike,
This is a wonderful update! I just love the color and length for only 23 months! I am sorry to hear of your wife's disapproval though. Hopefully she will come to accept your hair and you can keep it growing. Please keep it growing and stay well my friend!
Ted
My wife does NOT like long hair on men.
BUT...she was the one who told me to grow it, because she knew that is what I had always wanted.
One of her requests has been that I keep it tied back, especially in public. Since she has been supportive of my long hair (even though she doesn't like it), I don't mind compromising a little. She doesn't even want me out in public by myself (when she's not with me) with my hair down.
We went to Hawaii last summer for our 20th anniversary. We saw a lot of men with long hair wearing it in a bun. Ever since, I've been wearing mine more and more in a bun.
This summer, I've worn mine in a nautilus bun ever single day. It has been great getting my 36" long hair off my back in hot weather! I can do work outdoors with my hair totally out of the way.
Going back to your post....marriage is about acceptance, but it is also about compromise.
