Fellow long haired gentleman that's been growing his hair out for about a year and a half now. Planning on growing a beard to match the mane once able to, considering I'm only 17. I made a vow in May of 2013 to follow my vocation, and if I'd ever stopped following my vocation, I'd chop every inch off in shame. Glad to finally find a community of long haired men to share with, considering there are only three other guys at my well-populated High School with long hair. I'll probably post a new pic in a couple days, considering this one's from early May.
Welcome to the Hair Farming industry. I hope you enjoy the journey. I've had long hair for 50 years (started in 1964), I enjoy it just as much today as I did all those years ago.
Hey O Duinn,
Welcome to the tribe of long haired bros!
Your mane looks beautiful. Considering that you've been growing your hair for eighteen (18) months and it is reaching your collar bodes well for your future growth. I'm sure that being in the minority among your peers as a long haired male you have not always received encouragement to continue to grow your hair, and yet you have persisted. I'm sure that you will stay strong in your resolution to pursue your vocation and to grow your hair. You have the strength of character and the grace of God. We're here to help you with encouragement and advice. Your presence on the hyperboard is a encouragement to us.
I look forward to your future posts.
Welcome to the family!
Your long haired bro,
Raymond
I really appreciate it! It's nice having encouragement from individuals experiencing the same situations and problems as myself. I hope I'll be an active updater for the upcoming years! (Hopefully the whiskers will kick in soon enough!)
Welcome, your hair is looking really good. Keep the faith and keep your hair growing and downward. Updates appreciated here.
Looking forward toward to it!
I appreciate the welcome, and I look forward to going through the motions along with you all!
I'm curious -
What is your vocation?
and
Do you feel that your peers accept your choice to wear your hair long?
Some of us are probably old enough to be your grandfather... I hope you find encouragement and inspiration here. I have.
As a Roman Catholic, it's a vocation to the priesthood. On the topic of other individuals opinion... My close friends never really had an opinion about it, I don't think, aside from the occasional teasing and comparison to Jesus. My mother was entirely open to it, as well as my step father (Considering he was born in '63 I think, and he grew his own long at one point). Though my biological father wasn't a fan of it, and throughout the entire growth period he's encouraged me to get a haircut, Haha. Though he doesn't understand it's more than just an appearance-modifier, it's a meaningful part of my vocation. I'd honestly say that most people are open to it at my age, and actually admire the idea of men growing out their hair, except for an extreme few.
Welcome to the board. I'm sure you'll enjoy your journey...we all do!

Hi O Duinn,
Welcome to the board! Your hair is looking so great for only 18 months! I think a beard would look awesome with your long hair also! I hope you keep it growing and look forward to your future updates! Please be well my friend!
Ted

Welcome to the Long Hair Hyperboard.
The priesthood is a very worthwhile vocation. Some of my favorite people are priests. Studying for your degree and then on to seminary can be quite taxing on you mentally. I do know of 2 first year seminary students from my diocese that has had to take a break from their studies to prayerfully concider if the priesthood is for them this year. I wouldn't concider that break as them stopping their calling, but rather a much needed R&R before getting serious about the dirty work. My advice to you as you work your way through the process and work on your preliminary degree, is not to concider such a break as stopping either. Take all the time that you need to make your journey. There is a saying that goes, "Rome wasn't built in a day." Nothing great is accomplished quickly, and neither is a great priest.
I wish you well. Keep working towards your calling but don't fret over taking your much needed breaks when you need them. It is easier to take those breaks now than it is when you are a priest of a parish, but it is not a bad thing to teach yourself to rest and be able to carry that with you.
Oh, I almost forgot, you have a great head of hair. I would love it if I could serve the Holy Eucharist along side of a long haired priest. I look forwar to future updates.

Welcome to the forum, O Duinn!
You have already gotten some great length in only a year and a half, and it's going to be great fun watching your hair grow longer and longer throughout the months! And when that beard comes, man oh man! :)
Myself, I have been re-growing my hair out for the past 11 months, and have been documenting it all on my youtube channel! Have also started growing my hair, so feel free to drop by and take a look if you're curious! Perhaps you'll have some advice for me as well!
If you ever feel comfortable with it, I strongly suggest you start documenting your own jorney, and post a monthly video of your experience. Tons of fun, and a great feeling of cummunity with like minded people!
Good luck, and welcome, brother!

Hi O Duinn,
Welcome to the hyperboard, and thank you for sharing your update with us. You have excellent hair to work with, and it appears to grown quickly, since that is really good progress for only 1 1/2 years of growing.
Keep up the good work, and I look forward to your future progress.
Keep it growing,
David
If you want a long beard, it starts somewhere...
Welcome to MLHH, O' Duinn!
Your hair looks fantastic, and appears to be in excellent condition! Thanks also for the nice introduction. I look forward to watching your continued progress!
