Decided to grow my hair out about 2 years ago. I have always kept my hair very short but had thought about growing it out after a coworker did. My wife wasn't too pleased at first with that, but she grudgingly left it alone other than the occasional comment. I caught a lot of flack from other people too as I am sure all of you have but have stuck it out. I have read posts on here plenty of times before but now that I feel I have sufficient length I'd join and participate.
Well, sir, I am glad you decided to follow your desire to grow your hair out because you have absolutely awesome, beautiful hair. Great color and thickness and body. WOW. How do people like it now? If your wife doesn't like it, it's probably because you have better hair than she does - it wouldn't be difficult to have worse hair than you.
Thanks, I appreciate the compliment. As far as what people think goes... my wife has came around after a while, particularly as I got passed the awkward stage and not really being able to control my hair. She really likes the look of it in a ponytail. So I don't have any pressure to cut it from home. Other people still give me crap from time to time, but I just ignore them, while most have kind of let it go now that it is truly long and I can tie it back.
I'm glad she approves now. It took my wife a little while to come around to my way of thinking, too. I suspect that females don't like the shabby look that comes with growing it out and they want to voice their opinions about it. Now that I can pull my hair back, my wife likes the way mine looks more, too.
It seems odd to me, but other people seem to talk to a man with longer hair as if he were the root of all their fears of what will happen in the future. Whatever happened to long hair as a sign of steadfastness and strength? One would think that long hair would be taken as showing commitment to future development as well as endurance. Why do people not realize that in Europe, long hair was had by the people who were important in society and it was only the slaves in Europe (think dark ages and Roman times) who were shorn of beard and hair as a sign of their servitude?
Another thing I do not understand is that long hair on men is patriotic for U.S. men to have. I do not understand why people today conveniently forget that the men who fought in the Revolutionary War gave up all notion of keeping their place in society and sacrificed their looks for independence from England. Long hair and beards are frontiersman and war ready. One wonders where the frontier and forge ahead spirit of the United States has gone. If one looks at the back of any number of U.S. bill denominations, one finds a long-haired Benjamin Franklin as well as a number of other men. Even the quarter shows Washington with a pony tail down the back. John Adams and John Quincy Adams are often depicted in film and stage as having long pony tails as well as Thomas Paine of South Carolina. Has our free-thinking country caved in under 240 years?
That's a great start!
Looks like you've learned how to care for it....looks very healthy.
Thanks, doing my best and it seems to be going ok.

Thanks, and yeah they do seem to leave you alone if you stick it out.
Hi Nathan.
Your hair looks so full & healthy. You've done great! Hope you let it grow much longer. What's your goal?
A.D.
Thanks. I am probably going to let it grow another 6 to 8 inches I think.
WOW, your hair is without a doubt in EXCELLENT condition, just amazing!!!!

Thanks. It's all the same length now so i just need to wait for it to get longer.
Thanks for posting, and welcome to MLHH!
I also was reading awhile before posting. Your hair is looking really nice, and I'm glad your wife is getting used to it. When I began to wear a ponytail, that's when the "haircut" comments stopped. (they knew I was serious.)
Wishing you all the best on your journey..
