It's very hard from my part to post something like that, but we're here to help everyone, this is the purpose of the board right?
Well, since my last haircut 18 months ago, I've always had a problem with my front hairs, but it was unnoticeable and since I maded the decision for getting it long as I always dreamed about, this problem is starting to annoying me as the time goes by.
I think in this picture it won't show perfectly but my hair is wet on this picture, I've went out of the shower for about 5 minutes.
Those front hairs gets dry in a couple of minutes and gets very hard to style it with the rest of the hair and I noticed those front hairs is an another variations of curls, very tight coils I must say.
So, my doubt is, with time, this problem may go away when it gets more longer than this? Any suggestions will be welcome.
Without knowing how long you plan on letting your hair get, I cannot say if your 'problem' will go away entirely.
However, as your hair get's longer, you're 'problem' will become less noticeable as the hairs at the front grow out & start behaving more like the rest of your hair. But how long that process takes, especially with curly hair, is something you will have to find out for yourself.
As someone with a similar hair type & who once had a similar 'problem' with their own hair, I will tell you that your problem wont go way overnight, but it is only temporary, you will probably grow passed it eventually.
So the only suggestions I can really offer you are: be patient, and continue growing your hair out.
At 18 moths, you're still really early into your Longhair Journey, don't worry, eventually gravity & the other hairs will take care of the 'problem' for you.
Hope this helps.
Arend.
Yes, you really helped, don't worry I appreciate those suggestions you gave.
Well, the goal I got in mind first is for reaching the shoulder lenght, but I want to get even past that when it reaches shoulder lenght, something like 4 years or more.
I hope this info helps.
Cheers
Once everything gets below the shoulders, it's really manageable.
Right now, either use a ballcap/beanie, a bandana, or a do-rag to keep it in place.
I hope you're right, because back then, 18 months ago, I would never expect for my hair to get past the afro stage you know.
My big problem is to use something in the top of my head, such as a cap, beanie, everything. I don't know but, when I put a hat on my head, past 5 minutes its starts to get very itchy.
I guess I'll have to live with this minor inconvenience until it gets longer.
Thanks for the tips anyway!
Cheers
I have similar problems with hats... bandanas/dorags are cheap and breathable, so they don't form the itchy problem -- and if you have a backpack you could switch them out as they become dirty/sweat-soaked/etc...
Hi Guilherme,
I think you should keep your wonderful hair growing. Take a look at this photo. Who says curly hair isn't nice? Your hair will probably look like this with more growth.
Ted
Oh, Hi there Ted.
I'm not going to cut it off my friend, don't worry, I'm going to keep it. And I really don't know how it's going to look when it's longer, because I got two curly variations in my head, in those "Front hairs" that I said it's getting hard to style and it's looking annoying, it's just like this photo you send it. But from the middle of the head going to the back, it's an another kind of curls, a more loose ones, not so tight like those in the front.
And yes, curly hair is kinda nice too like in this photo but only the time will tell us how it's going to look on me.
Cheers
Hi Guilherme,
Hang in there! I have a very similar hair type and at just shy of two years growth (23 months) it's much more manageable. The front hair is still not where I'd like it to be, but tame-able. In my case, I part my hair and keep it pulled back to control it during the day for work and loose the rest of the time. Last time I grew it out, it took me reaching the 2 & a half year mark to be able to style the tight curls effectively and in a way I like.
Peace,
FatherM
Hang in there, your hair is growing nicely and will look even better longer.... Enjoy the journey.... The Spaf Man
