Both endeavors (growing out hair, getting muscular/strong) have 3 P's:
Patience, Perseverance, and Protein...
Any other gym rats here? I can't do behind the head cable pulldowns because the pulldown bar snags on my ponytail holder.
I'm heading back to Ithaca NY tonight. No more parental nagging! (YAY)
Hey there :)
I'm a bit of a gym rat too, I've hardly been at all in the last 9 months, however I'm still holding onto that muscle i built up really well. Should still get back to it...... I have 15 Kg of uneaten protein to get through :D
Your hair looks great - you've got some great length now - and whatever you are doing in the gym, it is working for you. Congratulations and all the best as you head back to college.
(Hey, I am in Syracuse, so not too far from you...)
Any other gym rats here?
Hey ".mkl",
I'm starting a nutrition, supplementation, and exercise program. I'm getting back into being a gym rat, again.
Great progress in regard to both your hair and your bod! Keep posting pics.
Your long haired bro,

Hi Matt,
Great pics my friend! You are making great progress on both fronts! Looking good! I used to lift weights before I had to get the access for dialysis put in my arm. Glad to hear you're going back to school. Nice to get away from the parental controls:) Take care.
Ted
Best wishes at school.... you are looking great.... I go to the gym all most every day.... all I am doing is the tredmill at the moment.... need to lose wight or have to start insulin....I. need to do more... but at least I am walking 2 miles a day...
All the best... The Spaf Man
I suggest should you start weights you start with the squat and deadlift -- they increase the size of your leg muscles, which makes running less efficient in terms of calories (more calories burnt) and strengthen your back. This gives you more strength to do most everyday things, most notably picking stuff up around the house. My dad pulled his back a month ago, which could have easily been avoided if he decided to go do squats...
If you want to get into weight training in earnest, hitting the big 5 compound exercises should hit every large muscle in the body -- bench and shoulder presses, (assisted) pullups/rows, squats, and deadlifts. Form is key, to both effectively and safely lift the weights. Aim for sets of 8 to 12, except with the deadlift, in which case I do 5 since it's the most strenuous of the basic lifts. Compound this with cardio the next day for more calories burnt from the afterburn effect.
If you want better bang for the buck, use the rowing machine instead of the treadmill -- less impact on the joints and more muscle involvement=more calories burnt in less time with less stress in your body.
All the best to whatever you do

Hey there! It does appear you've lost quite a bit of weight, although its hard to tell without seeing your face in the picture. I'm guessing that's the lower hairs in the picture? Either way it's creeping down your shoulders quite a bit!
