I made it two years without a cut or trim. Not bad for an old guy! When I look at these pictures of myself I can't believe it's me.
On the serious side, my 6 year old grandson was diagnosed with leukemia yesterday. Dr's don't know what type or have a treatment plan in place yet. Bone marrow biopsy this morning with results tomorrow and will likely start chemo right away. He's in Doernbecher's in Portland, Oregon so I know he's getting the best possible care.
Hey Mike,
Great hair, bro! Keep it growing!
I'll pray for your grandson.
Your long haired bro,
Raymond
Thanks for your prayers and kind thoughts Raymond. It's really sad when you make a post about a child with cancer and only one kind person comments, but a post about Metalheads gets numerous follow ups. Makes me question if I want to be part of this group!
Mike.... I am SO SORRY I am behind in reading the board... working different shifts... I do care and will pray for your family..

Hi Mike,
I might mention that now you have received many responses to your post. And you have not responded to any of them. You do realize it works both ways, right? Just thought I would mention this since we seem to have a trend of people posting updates etc. and then ignoring the responses.
Ted
I have spent nearly every waking moment at the hospital with my possibly terminally ill grandson. Today is the first time I have been on the computer since my last post. In the first three days after my initial post I had one response while the metalhead post received numerous responses. I know you especially are busy with your own medical issues and I sincerely wish you the best.
For me I made a post with two important issues: My extremely sick grandson and a personal milestone of two years without a haircut and I received one kind reply in three days while a "fun" post about metalheads received numerous posts in the same time.
I don't think most people know what to say.
Hi Mike,
Thanks for your reply. Please accept my apologies for my post. My medical issues are nowhere near as serious as your Grandson's. And your well wishes are sincerely appreciated! Likewise I am praying for your Grandson to fight the good fight! I am confident and faithful he will overcome!
The reason I posted the message about not replying is because there are a lot of ignored replies to posts here. To me, it's only common courtesy to at least acknowledge replies to our posts. Also, many update posts are ignored here. Of course, I realize this is a worldwide board, people are busy etc. Just my 2 cents here.

Hi Mike,
Wow! I really like the color and length of your hair! Looks like excellent progress to me! But you better believe it's you! Please keep it growing and flowing!
I shall keep your little angel in my thoughts and prayers! As a supporter of St. Jude's Children's Hospital, it tears me up when I read the stories of kids with cancer. When I was a teenager I had a friend with leukemia. I can still remember an ambulance racing by my bedroom window one night when I couldn't get to sleep. The next day I found out my friend was in that ambulance and didn't make it through the night. This haunted me for some time. I still miss him. I am very happy your Grandson is getting the best care. May he fight the good fight! Godspeed little one! Please take care and hang in there Mike!

Hi Fitz,
Much appreciated! I felt sad when Mike said he may not belong here and had to respond. I have been having a rough time with my dialysis. It's been knocking me down pretty good lately. I have good days and bad. Stay well my friend!
Ted
I agree...
Mike your hair is just awesome.... and we stand with you in support of your grandson.....
Ted ...I hope your dyalisis goes better, I have a friend, 32 that is on it....
.... and Fitz... you are looking good as well.... I continue to grow at snails pace..
Take Care everyone..... The Spaf Man
Hi Spaf Man,
Thanks much for the well wishes! Lately the dialysis has been kicking my butt. Must be a phase I'm going through. I do wish your friend well also! Dialysis is kind of like a job in itself.
I agree about Fitz. He's looking pretty cool with that long hair now! Glad you're still growing too! Doesn't matter how fast-as long as it grows! I think maybe my hair has stopped growing as fast as it used to. It's kind of discouraging to say the least. I'm hanging in there though! Please stay well you guys!
Ted
Mike, I enjoy following your progress because as you know I am right behind you by a few (4) months - and it is exciting to see how long your hair is - I know I will be near that point by my 2 year mark in December... It's been wonderful to see your success.
My thoughts and hopes and prayers for your grandson are with you, man... It is hard to stand by and know your beloved boy is sick... a healing hand for that boy and best care possible...
Great progress - another oldie salutes you!
Your hair is looking great for a guy at your age, my grandfather from my mother's side already lost 50% of his hair already and he's 67.
I send my prayers for your young grandson, it's not a good thing to live your whole life in a hospital bed, I wish he's going to beat that and live a normal life like what a true kid deserves.
When I went to the ICU when I maded my kidney beans surgery when I almost died, I've met a lot of others kids with similar problems like this and hey, I felt so bad seeing that situation and the nurses didn't really cared about those kids, they were only doing the treatment for those kids just for an "Obligation" to get they wages in the end of the month.
Again, I send my prayers for your little young grandson and may the god bless you and him, resisting to the Chemo process isn't an easy task for everyone I must say, it hurts very bad.
Cheers.
Hi Mike,
My best to you and your grandson. Knowing he's getting the best possible professional care, and being surrounded by those who dearly love him, that gives us all a lot of good reason to have hope here.
You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Damn, I've gone 18 years without a haircut, and my hair right now looks just like yours! I can't grow hair like I could have when young, but what you and I are rockin' are sure better than what we had!
Sorry to hear that, man. Hang in there. Hope all comes out well.
Bill
My hair is short at the moment because I was pressured into cutting it by people who were of the belief long grey hair on older people looked "aging". I now think nothing could be further from the truth. It still looks just as grey when it is short; makes no sense really. I am growing my hair much longer now and I now thing the two worst thing you could do to long gray hair is to one, cut it and two die it. Looking forward to my long curly trusses once again, this time they will be grey and I will own them.
