I have not been around much this month - holidays and work, also rethinking my life.
Given all that, the hair is still there, being looked after and is growing. Some say you have the title of "Longhair" when it rests on the shoulders without moving the head out of a natural position.
I'm still in awkward phase, but everything except the top hair is almost touching the ponytail point - so I reckon it's another 4 months or so before I'm out of awkward phase.

Yes, sir... it is a great act of patience... but, please wait it out... you'll be glad you did.
Worry not - I have no intention of cutting it now! My immediate target (in a couple of years time) is mid-back. Then we'll see. One day at a time. In only one month - a whole year since the last time my head saw clippers!

Hi Anthony,
Your hair looks GREAT -- especially considering that you are still in the midst of the so-called "awkward phase"; however, sorry to say it, but I think you'll find it will take far more than just 4 more months to be completely beyond that stage... It will take the front ("bangs" AKA "fringe") at least double that amount of time for it to reach back into a full tail, actually probably even a bit longer than 8 months, usually around a full year or even a year and a half (for some).
But, it's all relative: becoming a longhair is a gradual thing -- and what one individual finds "awkward" and difficult to deal with, another guy will welcome with open arms.

Many thanks for your encouragement, Ken.
I see this thing in two stages. I should be able to tie up all my hair except the front bangs by Christmas. That would leave me like a man with long front bangs but short hair everywhere else, a style I would need for practical / safety reasons or for being in stuffy company.
If I pull the ends of my front bangs to the back of my head, the distance to the ponytail point is about 4 to 5 inches. That represents 8 to 10 months, and then some more for that hair to remain caught in the ponytail.
That being said, I am happy to wear my hair loose and I don't care what people say or think. I look forward to tying up for when I go sailing without using a headband, so that it doesn't fly all the place and get tangled, making the next combing session irksome.
I must say I am pleased with my curls, which are completely natural - no hairdressing. I have had women tell me that they wish they had such curls! They pay for them. I don't.
As you say, the process is gradual and continuous, bringing new feelings and awareness all the time. I'm not interested in "being a longhair" but simply myself with what I've got. I just wash/condition it once a week, rinse it when I get sweaty and comb it when needed.
I look forward to being able to tie it all up, but that's not essential - as I say - except for practical reasons.
The saga continues...

Looking awesome! I am also eagerly awaiting the ponytail now,
Looks great Anthony! For what it's worth, it was 15 months before I could pull all my hairs back into a fairly high ponytail. That being said, even now at 23 months I have some hairs that consistently fall out of the ponytail, which drives me crazy! Also along the way you get some breakage, and end up with spare hairs falling in your face and such! Oh well, things to look forward to, right ;)?
